Go fuck yourself with a rusty circular saw.

For all your talk of how Christ was all about unconditional love, you appear to be sorely lacking in it.

Now, what if, and I'm only hypothesizing here, what if our culture didn't have such ridiculously insane taboos against homosexuality. If being gay was okay, then coming out of the closet would be no big deal to the family, at the worst. The only reason it destroys families is because people like you have shanghaied our culture into seeing homosexuality as bad.

Wow. Your argument (which is very, very weak in the first place) is self-fulfilling, as it is your bigotry that would bring about this hypothetical situation. The only 'problem' you speak of is induced by your intolerance.
And, from the first sentence, I see you pointedly ignored lesbians. Because they don't exist, right?

"Most dads would rather be told they have terminal cancer than have their son tell them he is gay,"
I don't think you speak for most dads, certainly not most caring and intelligent dads.
"particularly if it is your only son."
You know, it's not all about how you feel about your son's sexuality.
It seems as though you're implying that if one has a non-gay son, one can concentrate one's interest and efforts on him and ignore the gay son.
"Coming out of the closet is a selfish act."
No, you're having a problem with someone else's sexual orientation is a selfish act.
"It turns your problem into your family’s problem and forces everyone around you to live a lie."
No, they live a lie by choice. They are free to live with the truth. Coming out ends the lie. It persists in you only if you let it.
"I have seen this destroy families."
Probably true, but only if some or all family members refuse to accept the homosexual person.
"If you are gay, stay in the closet."
If you are gay, shove wolfy into a nearby closet.

Allegory for Jesus
"Live a lie, because it's selfish to admit the truth and force the irrational homophobes to live a lie instead"
By this logic, it's selfish to not commit suicide if a bunch of bullies say that if you don't kill yourself, they'll kill themselves. Sure, the moral calculus works in their favor, but only if you factor out the fact that the potentially harmed party are harming themselves due to their proclivity towards being raging douchebags.

Funny, my Christian mother was quite accepting of me coming out of the closet. She even invited me and my partner out to Christmas dinner. Father had no issue with it either.
All I hear is Freep freep freep.

THIS dad loves his children. That would not change a bit if one of them came out to me. If anything, I'd be relieved that they didn't tell me they had terminal cancer or something.

Well, I will for the rest of my life remember my dad's comment, when I came out to my family years and years ago:
"I don't like it, but I don't have to. It's your life and you should do what makes you happy! And don't be afraid, that I will disinherit you or some shit like this. You are still my son and I love you. To tell the truth, it bothers me more that you smoke."
just a thought: Perhaps he could say that, because he is a religious and conservative man, but not a fundie nutjob.

Most dads I know would love their sons unconditionally. You may want some citation for your claim. And being gay isn't a problem.

How come most Americans think there laws and views suit the whole worlds?
Perhaps once they get out of debet and start spending more in healthcare and school funding, they wont be so retarded.
I'm also pretty sure that my family would come before some book written a couple millenias ago.

I know this may be shocking to you, but it really isn't that big a deal. Homosexuality is only a big issue if people make it big. If people treated it like any other genetic trait (like eye colour), there would be no problem. I hope that day comes someday.

wow, you are really evil. To dumb to really know what cancer is and what it can do and to dumb that you rather destroy someone’s live than face reality and accept people for who they are, human beings. Now that is selfish!
