No, it means it took millions of years for the light to get here, you're an idiot.

"Distant stars and galaxies might be millions of light-years away, but that doesn’t mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here, it just means it is really far away!"
This would blow Ken's mind then:

Haa haa, what did the light do then? Get on a bus, then get off at the moon?

>>The L:
The AiG guys generally believe and promote that the speed of light has decreased over time. Naturally, there is no evidence of such a thing even being possible, much less actually happening in our universe. (How would you measure such a thing if it happened, anyway?) <<
This idea has been tested, not by checking the speed of light directly, but by checking the nuclear fine-structure constant, which is related to the speed of light and determines how nuclear fusion works in stars. For the last ten billion years, fine-structure constant and the speed of light have not changed by more than a part in a million.
So, there goes that idea. Eventually, their claims will either contradict reality or become Last Thursdayism.

"It doesn't mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here, it just means that we are magically seeing stars somehow without seeing the light that came from those stars or the light from those stars went MUCH faster than the speed of light for some reason "
A failure? At Answers in Genesis? How could it be!?

Man #1: I need to know how tall that post is (gesturing to streetlight)
Man #2 not having a ladder, digs it up, lays it down and measures it from where it was level with the ground to the top.
Man #1 I wanted to know how TALL it was, not how long!
That is fundieism in a nutshell.

Then how can we see it if that light had to travel millions of years to get here?

Epic fail, Ken. As usual. But this is more than just a typical Ham-boner - this answer illustrates, more than any other stupid thing he has ever said, that Mr Ham is, indeed, the personification of intellectual poverty. If this man is the spokesperson for YEC, the movements' shining theoretical light, then the rest of them must have brains consisting of merely the stem and CSF.

"Distant stars and galaxies might be millions of light-years away, but that doesn’t mean that it took millions of years for the light to get here.."
Actually, that's exactly what it means. Let's examine the term in question. Light-year: a combination of the words "light" and "year", it is used in science to represent roughly the distance that LIGHT travels in a single YEAR. hence, "light-year".
Stop me if I'm going too fast for you.

What's depressing about this is Ken's ignorance of his own tradition. Brighter creationists than him (which isn't saying much) know there's a real problem here and have devised whole new theories to account for it. If it were true, one theorist in particular, Russell Humphries, would have out Einsteined Einstein and won a Nobel Prize: but the only other people who have been persuaded by Humphries are his fellow creationists. Wonder why that is?
