Given all the horrific statistics on women being raped in the US military a little fear in the hearts of the men might make them think about how they're treating women and more likely to take no for an answer or treat them less like a toy to be stared at.
Yeah, not likely to happen as long as the issue remains unaddressed by the higher echelons of the military, but if fundies are allowed to fantasize about all the gays and lesbians being obsessed with their ass, I'm allowed to fantasize about people learning to treat others as fellow human beings.

You know, allowing gay men to serve openly does not mean they can't be disciplined or dishonorably discharged should they behave in an unacceptable manner. If a gay soldier rapes a fellow soldier in the shower, as you claim, he'll be dishonorably discharged.

I'll type this slowly so maybe you can understand it. And I will try to limit myself to simple words.
There already are gays in the military. What the fuck do you think "Don't Ask Don't Tell" is all about? They can serve as long as they don't reveal their sexual orientation, and the military is not allowed to ask about said orientation.
If gays were allowed to serve openly maybe some system could be worked out for showers. The people who are gay and the majority who don't give a fuck can shower at the same time.
And the two raving fundie homophobes in the unit could shower together by themselves. Getting their naked, buffed, hetero bodies all soapy and slippery. Maybe help each other in this process. They should be careful to keep their moans to a minimum.

Patrick: They're probably extrapolating from the idea that a heterosexual man innately wants to bed every post-pubescent woman he sees. The concept of anything even remotely approaching Single Target Sexuality would probably seem utterly impossible to them. This is probably also the stem of the idea that it's women's responsibility to dress hyper-modestly because anything less is a beacon for male lust. They've utterly despaired in the idea that lust can be meaningfully controlled, outside of divine influence.

I was in the Army for 12 years, lived in all sorts of barracks, tents, etc., and the only time I ever showered with others was during basic training.

Well, if that's all it takes to get a good portion of the military personnel thrown out then I think all of the women should complain that they are uncomfortable serving with men. All of the men, of course, should then be thrown out of the military for making the women uncomfortable.

Or you can acknowledge that you are all there for a reason, and that reason is not one big fuckfest, but to defend your country. If you cannot control your sexuality to do your job, you should not be in the military, gay, straight or otherwise. And judging by your obsession with getting your ass ogled, something tells me you are far from capable of that.
