I really don't understand what anyone could possibly have against what is basically the world's biggest track meet.
NASCAR, on the other hand, is obviously the devil's handiwork.

Wow - oddly the fuckwit probably cheered the Olympic torch in LA in '84, and Altanta in '96 even though it was lit by the Gods on Mt Olympus.
He also probably doesn't know athletes used to compete naked or that the modern Olympics were French.

I wonder if he thinks Christmas is demonic because it was originally pagan.

I saw the opening ceremonies, and I thought they were a thrilling and beautiful homage to the development of western civilization. This is a person who has no understanding or appreciation of cultures other than his own or of history in general; he is profoundly xenophobic and probably would have cheerfully lit the fire to burn down the Library at Alexandria himself.

I'm from Greece, and, even though am an atheist, fuck you. The majority is Orthodox here and, besides, paying a little honour to your ancestors isn't paganistic, dumbfuck.

The only ceremony a fundie knows is the obligatory beat-the-bible-into-your-brain thing. Any ceremony that celebrates human health and strength is a threat to the babble zombies.

I just have three words to say to Saved By Jesus: pa? st? d??ß???.
David D.G.: Kudos to you. I loved the opening ceremony, too, and thought it was fantastic. (Of course, I could have done without the inane commentary of Katie Couric and Bob Costas, but you can't have everything.)

Darn it, this server won't let me post Greek letters. Oh, well. Here's a transliteration of what I wanted to say: pas sto diavolo.

That is really, really sad, Saved By Jesus. I'm no great sports fan but even I feel a bit uplifted and hopeful watching the Opening Ceremony. Roll on 2012 when London hosts the Games again.

What worries me so much about these people is that they can't tell the difference between internal and external stimuli. To summarize:
God isn't talking to you.
Demon's aren't talking to you.
Satan isn't talking to you.
You are talking to you.

I suspect this person's mentality is simply to perceive anything that appears to equal or surpass his religion, in popularity, size, strength or even simple visual appeal, as a threat. The olympics certainly make a lot of churches and religious ceremonies look piss-poor by comparison.

The origion of the Olympics was a human event to curry the Greek Gods favor. Any reason that should be stopped? Real history pisses Christians off

...I think that's the first time anyone, anywhere, forever described the Olympics as the embodiment of hopelessness.
