To be sure, the rally held two blocks from the World Trade Center was not a decisive defeat of the enemy
And what "enemy" would you be refering to? Oh... you mean people who support the 1st Ammendment right to freedom of religion... even when that religion happens to be islam.
like that dealt by the storied British “Desert Rats” to Hitler’s Afrika Korps in November 1942.
As if protests and counter protests were even comparable to the battles of WWII.
But there was something pivotal about the fact that throngs of ordinary Americans
And by "Ordinary Americans" you mean people who agree with whatever position you happen to hold, right?
many of them family or friends of those who died on 9/11 had come together to stand for hours in an intermittent rain
And yet you failed to mention that just as many friends and family of 9/11 victims ere involved in a counter protest in the same long hours and intermittent rain.
not just to contest the construction of a megamosque
What "mega-mosque"? A community/rec centerthat includers a prayer space for members of any religion is not a "mega-mosque", it's the equivalent of a YMCA.
Moreover, "mega-mosque" or not this still an America where freedom of religion exists and there is no reason whatsoever why any group, of any religion, should be prevented from building any structure they so choose on land that they own, regardless of whether you like it or not. This anti-mosque campaign is nothing more than juvenile and pathetic fear mongering.
at a wholly inappropriate location
And just what is so innappropiate about building a community center two blocks down, around the corner, and further down the street from the former WTC site? Oh yeah... Nothing.
but in informed opposition to the impetus behind that mosque: shariah.
And just how is it that you know Imam Raouf, a man who has time and again gone to the middle east to promote peace on behalf of both the Bush and Obama administrations, is secretly intent of imposing Sharia law on america, an act which no one person, mosque, or community center could ever hope toaccomplish? How is it you supposedly learned that Cordoba House is part of some sinister evil muslim plot to impose sharia. Really now, how do you expect anyone to believe this shit?
Further more, how could a community center or a mosque impose sharia law? Muslims make up an incredibly small minority of americans and an even smaller minority of congress. Of course your intent is to insinuate that Barack Obama, the US President is secretly a muslim and will use the dictatorial powers he doesn't even possess to impose the religious law of a faith that is not his own.
God-fearing Americans
"God-fearing Americans" is a misnomer. Not all americans believe or fear the christian god. Nor does the fact that they don't make them any less of an american than you.
need to be informing themselves on the implications of the movement of those practicing taqqiya
Taqqiya has primarily been used by Shi'a muslim to avoid persecution hen they live under Sunni law. And for what purpose would you even bring up the practice other than to insinuate that someone is secretly muslim? Seeing as how the people involved in the planning the community center are openly muslim it makes me wonder who you are refering to?
and stealth jihad
Imam Raouf is a Sufi. In Sufi islam the word "jihad" is used exclusively to refer to a personal internal struggle. But that doesn'tfit very well with your intentions to spread fear of muslims now does it?
And, most importantly God-fearing Americans need to be humbling themselves and seeking His face
"God-fearing" americans oud do well to remember that the 1st Ammendment's gurantee of freedom of religion, all religions, is what allowed most of the denominations to hich they belong to flourish rather than being trampled, oppressed, and outlawed by an official state church.
and remembering their God and all that He has done for us in this land of so much abundance, grace, mercy and Truth.
And that would be what exactly? What can you attribute to your "god" that is not equally attributible to the blood, sweat, and effort of the american people you are so quick to devalue?
