[On a children´s book regarding homosexuality]

First of all, I wouldn’t buy the book nor do I think it is OKAY to teach our children that homosexuality is a good thing or that it is even okay. It you’re an athiest then I am positive you’re not going to see anything wrong with men being with men, or women with women and that certainly is your choice. Free will. But I do pray this is never allowed into our schools, EVER! I for one will remove my children from school and have something to say about it if it is allowed. They removed prayer from school as it offended non believers and have even tried to remove God from the Pledge of Allegiance and I know this book will more then likely be allowed into the public schools. This country does not NEED garbage like this. It isn’t cute it isn’t okay for two men to marry or have a relationship like a woman and man. God didn’t make Adam and Steve and then EVE and tell him to decide which one he wanted/lusted after. It’s an abomination, a perversion and this country certainly doesn’t need more garbage allowed like this here.

EVERY goddammned religion thinks they are the bee's knees, the most important thing to have ever happened to mankind. Ok, how about this: We teach ALL religions since you are all apparently right. After 5 hours of religious classes and prayer (we gotta at least cover the major religions) we can finally start teaching some useful skills like science and math if the kids aren't too tired.

The simple fact remains: we teach in school what we know to make sense, not what some people falsely believe to be true. In short, if the bible is so awesome and cool, it'd contain the instructions to build a microwave. It doesn't, so let's use the science book that does have the instructions. Like that we can ensure that microwaves will be produced.

First of all, I wouldn’t buy the book nor do I think it is OKAY to teach our children that homosexuality is a good thing or that it is even okay.

Why not? I get not teaching that it's a good thing (it's neither good nor evil, it's neutral), but why not tell people that it's okay? Why perpetuate the hatred of gays just because they're born a certain way that you personally don't like?

It you’re an athiest then I am positive you’re not going to see anything wrong with men being with men, or women with women and that certainly is your choice.

And that's because there is no rational argument against homosexuality, the only thing you have to justify your bigotry is a couple sentences from a very old book which also includes other rules that nobody follows anymore. Talk to me when you start protesting poly-fiber blends in clothing and Red Lobster then I might take you a little more seriously.

But I do pray this is never allowed into our schools, EVER! I for one will remove my children from school and have something to say about it if it is allowed.

Whatever. Less people who are going to bully homosexuals just because their parents are ignoramuses.

They removed prayer from school as it offended non believers and have even tried to remove God from the Pledge of Allegiance and I know this book will more then likely be allowed into the public schools.

It's called the separation of church and state. Don't like it? Move.

God didn’t make Adam and Steve

Ooh, aren't you clever little thing? Cause nobody's EVER used that joke before.

Free will is about actions, not opinions, surely. Just as you are free to not buy the book, Adam and Steve are free to love each other.
Prayers are not in schools because of separation of church and state. Plus, Jesus said you should pray in private; only pharisees pray in public.
If I'm not mistaken, God was put IN the Pledge of Allegiance sometime during the fifties.

It's NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS who someone else have sex or a relationship with. Free will, remember?
Didn't God make Eve and Lilith? And the Bible only badmouths male homosexuality, right?
Lilith seems to be friendly with snakes, just as Eve...

I strongly doubt that public schools are going to teach that homosexuality is a good thing; more likely they're going to teach that it's a normal thing, like being left-handed or having green eyes. (My left-handed father remembers when his parents had to protest at school because the teachers were trying to force my father to write with his right hand.) If being an atheist means allowing consenting adults to arrange their lives as they see fit, I don't see how religion is better.

Explain how the message of this book, which you want banned, is different to what you just wrote, and hence why it's OK for you (with bad grace) to respect the free will of complete strangers but neither to respect free will, nor instill that same respect of free will, in your own children.

a certain response on that blog, not a direct answer to this person though reads like this:

"Sure it is infringing parents rights, parent’s right to raise bigoted assholes under the mental disorder we call “Religion” How about we just educate our children to pure factual information without basis and let them make up their own minds? "

As per usual, none of these ignoramuses realize that "under God" was not originally in the pledge. It was added during the Cold War scare, to make a ridiculous statement about the USA being a God-bothering country as opposed to those horrible Commie non-believers.

OK then, homeschool your kid. See if we care. The world needs burger flippers, too, even if they're homophobic ones.

And before you bring up how much of an abomination to God that homosexuality is, I hope you never eat shellfish, wear clothes of mixed fibers, or eat dairy products with meat. According to your bible, all these are just as bad as homosexuality.

Prayer is STILL allowed in school you fuck nut, and "God" wasn't in the pledge in the first place!

I wonder what you would do if I mentioned Lillith?

We should say the pledge the way our founding fathers intended, with no mention of God.

WAHHH people read books with different opinions in them, WAAHHH!!!

Yes, children should be allowed to read whatever books they want and draw their own conclusions. That's called critical thinking; something "faith" disdains.

Well you're half right. God didn't make anything because he's imaginary.

It must really suck when schools make you teach intolerance to your kids yourself instead of doing it for you huh?

I wouldn’t buy the book nor do I think it is OKAY to teach our children that homosexuality is a good thing or that it is even okay.

Nobody tries to teach kids that homosexuality is a good thing or a bad thing. They just teach them that some people are like that and don't worry about it.

They removed prayer from school as it offended non believers

Actually, the people who filed the lawsuit were mostly Jewish.

This country does not NEED garbage like this.

This country needs people to STFU and mind their own business and stop worrying about who somebody else is having sex with and trying to make everyone else follow your religion. That's what a FREE COUNTRY means.

"... I wouldn’t buy the book nor do I think it is OKAY to teach our children that homosexuality is a good thing ..."

Quite right too, I think such things are best left to the pastors. After all, the pastors seem to have to the most practical experience and often they do seem the keenest on the subject. Plus they can help with after school lessons and other extra-curricular activities.

"I for one will remove my children from school and have something to say about it if it is allowed."

Then we need to get it allowed ASAP. The sooner we get you religious fanatics out of public school, the sooner we remove the obstacle from making America into a grand world wide envied public education system.

"God didn’t make Adam and Steve and then EVE and tell him to decide which one he wanted/lusted after."

No, actually God paraded all of the animals in front of him for a possible "help meet", and although the goat was tempting, he could not decide...so jeebus took out a rib and the rest is mythological history.
