I can't think of a single, single mother who was so by choice. They're all single moms because the men in their lives fucked off to greener pastures or were so abusive it was unsafe for the mother and kids to stay with him.**
**yes I'm sure there are some single moms and or single dads who choose to raise their kids alone. I think they're the exception rather than the rule though

I'm sure it's assumed to be the woman's fault for being single. For not being submissive enough to him or being attentive enough as his servant. Isn't that what fundie pastors give to abused women as advice to make her think she deserves the treatment she gets? If he actually left, then she must have been far too "difficult" to live with at all.
So I guess that's why it's so horrifying to think boys should be made to live with a "difficult" woman like that.

I have a friend who was forced to raise her son and daughter on her own when her narcissistic asshole of a husband decided to skip town and stop paying her any child support.
It wasn't easy but she raised two well behaved kids. One is an adult looking to better himself at university, the other is doing well in high school. Neither has been in trouble with the law.
I shudder to think what would have happened had he been responsible for them. The asshole even complains now because they want nothing to do with him. Gee, I wonder why?

Single mothers have brothers, fathers, male cousins, male friends, male co-workers.
Single mothers don't live in a male-free environment, there will be other male role-models around the kids, to learn from and imitate.
