America needs exactly one dictator who kills union leaders, use the weapons of the Army to disband unions, fully privatize social security, give away the State to the most conservative wing of the Catholic Church (please see who was "Jorge Medina Estévez" on Wikipedia, he is still a Pinochet rabid supporter, hint: he was the guy who announced that Ratzinger would become Benedict XVI). The average Republican wildest dreams.
Add to that: with a Pinochet on charge, every New York Times journalist trying to open its mouth about the government entanglement with economical groups would be prosecuted to death, anywhere in the world (Orlando Letelier was killed in Washington D.C., Bernardo Leighton was near-killed in Italy, and I can go on...) Perfect for sustaining a long war on terror.
