Quote# 74639

I REFUSE to see PRINCE OF PERSIA. Even if there are no bad words or cussing because..... the prince of persia in the bible is a demonic spirit. For those of you who don't know read... Daniel 10:10-15. The angel Michael was fighting with the "prince of persia" which is a fallen angel working for the evil one. This fallen spirit was trying to hinder Michael from delivering a message to Daniel.

You know how whenever fundies boycott McDonald's or Twilight we get people being like "well I don't feel too bad even though your reasoning is off"?

This is that kind of moment for me. The less people see that cliche Orientalist nonsense the better, even if they do think that it's because Jake Gyllenhaal's character is a demon.

Then again, fundies already hate the Middle East so missing out on ONE stereotype-fest isn't going to help them.

*snort* I looked up the origin of the word "Tiki" just to see how demonic it might seem to the average RR... This is what Wikipedia notes:

"In some traditions, Tiki is the penis of Tane (Orbell 1998:178, Tregear 1891:510-511)."

Now, if one were feeling childish, one might point her username is "Princess Penis."

I KILLED THE PRINCE OF PERSIA!

Rot in the ground, Esfandiyar! Rot as you have rotted for three thousand years! Rostam may have repented, but I never shall!

Etcetera. The Shanameh is frickin' stuffed with princes.

The prince of Persia can also be Cyrus, the liberator, in the Bible. In the video game and in the movie is like 20 centuries later. Care to check?

Isn't pretty much anything demonic according to RaptureRedians?

@lolmonster

"I'm just not going to see it cause it looks like its gonna suck... I mean, name one, ONE game-to-movie adaptation that hasnt SUCKED."

'Space Paranoids' and 'Light Cycles' featured in the film "Tron". There were the Bally Midway arcade videogames "Tron" and "Discs of Tron" released soon after.

Later this year, there's the long-awaited release of the sequel "Tron: Legacy" (and I hear there'll be lightcycle and even 'Space Paranoids' games; the latter in which you'll control a 'Recogniser' released).

...oh, and the Vic Viper (from the "Nemesis" series of videogames by Konami) features in the anime series (sponsored by Konami) "Sky Girls".

[/smartarse] ;)

"Pirates of the Caribbean" was at least partially inspired by "Secret of Monkey Island", which in turn borrowed extensively from Disney's theme park ride.

First prince of persia was a young king running around in pajamas.

How is that a demonic to you? Seriously, how?

(Kudos to those who get the reference)

You could almost think that the book was written as a means of propaganda in a copper age nation.

"Tiki, tiki, tiki... I just invoked Polynesian small gods saying your name three times."

(heh, I'm quoting meself!):

@Anon-e-moose

@#1184799

"Isn't ''tiki'' a word for the various graven wooden images that Pacific islanders use for their gods?"

"Rather like the Moai that were part of the Rapanuian ancestor worship on Rapa Nui ('Easter Island'), thus princesstiki is going to Hell. They were also used in Konami's "Nemesis" series of shmup videogames. (nostalgia bombs all round, I'll wager!)

[/nerd II]"

@Yama the Space Fish

'Nemesis includes Gradius and Life Force? Because that's where I know the Moai from.'

"As well as in their "Parodius" games.

[/MAME]"

And in the openings of some anime series/films.

princesstiki, you're going to Hell!:

The 1st & 2nd Commandments say so.

One of the most recent posts in that thread goes thus:

"Grown ups is full of potty humor! Its sick, twisted and its not family friendly content. I don't care how much they try to sugar coat it!"

Then I suggest you never watch the anime series "Panty & Stocking (with Garterbelt)" if you know what's good for you. Never mind the pure bollocks-out 'WTF?!'-ness (and of course, that ending!), the amount of expletives would make even Joe Pesci blush very easily (like Kneesocks) and your head asplode; and - right from the start - with it's gross-out toilet humour. Literally.

(everyone else, if you want a fucking good laugh, I can heartily recommend "P&S(w/G)" Torrents/DDLs available easily; just Google for such)
