Quote# 74068

The antigay American Family Association (AFA) is slamming Fayetteville, Arkansas mayor Lioneld Jordan for the decision to honor 10-year-old gay rights activist Will Phillips as a gay pride parade grand marshal this Saturday. AFA president Tim Wildmon called the move a “form of child abuse.”

“It’s shameful that adults would abuse a brain-washed child in this way,” said AFA president Wildmon. “He’s obviously just parroting the nonsense he’s been told by manipulative adults. For gay activists to trot out this child and make him the poster child for promoting unnatural sexual expression is a form of child abuse.”

They just never seem to make the connection between how they describe others and what they actually are.

Damn irony meter, thought it could handle 16E^8 levels of irony. Dammit, gotta make a new one.

Now... I think it is odd that any group uses a 10 year old as the marshal. Anyone here agree?

So, Tim, you're pissed that even a 10-year-old can see through your homophobic bullshit, huh?

I'm all choked up . For anyone in Fayetteville, AR, to do anything openly acknowledging tolerance of gays is amazing.

But if the kid started ranting about the evil of homosexuality, he'd be praised for speaking the word of God, right?

Right, because kids are naturally supposed to be homophibic, and any of them who aren't must be brainwashed.

I think it's child abuse when people drag innocent children to Sunday School and tell them they're horrible sinners that deserve to burn in hell. When they're teenagers, the churches then brainwash them with unnatural sexual repression.

For those who don't know, young Will refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance of his own accord because he thought that there wasn't equality for all like the pledge said. That takes guts for a kid to do something that big without anyone behind him. He didn't try to make it big at all. He just refused to say it and got into an argument with his substitute teacher. Someone heard about it and the rest is history.

He isn't being forced to do a thing. Unlike certain programmed child pastors. If he was, he wouldn't have given the Vulcan salute and said "live long and prosper" on live TV.

Oh, you're just jealous because this kid is doing something meaningful with his life and is being recognized for it and you're not getting a parade thrown for you.

As opposed to the Phelps kids who can tell you how much they hate hellbound 'fags', but can't explain what a 'fag' actually is.

Burning Stake:

Wow, TV Tropes and more information on a given topic in the comments section? Yes!

Thank you for that information, Shadow Phoenix!

Hopefully, he will grow up to be a future President. ; )

And being "brainwashed" to not be offended by homosexuality in Arkansaw...his parents must have done something right!

Yet the Phelpses can tell their five-year-olds to hold a sign at whoever's funeral they're protesting this week, and the AFA is curiously silent.
