Even if is was true that gays were automatically HIV-infected, so what? Currently american soldiers are busy killing innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan, why should they deserve better than being killed themselves?
6/15/2010 9:34:59 AM
One solution that suggests itself is not to use HIV-infected blood for transfusions. Perhaps some sort of screening would work. Like, maybe a test for HIV or something.
6/15/2010 9:38:39 AM
a) kristine stfu just because its not a just war doesn't mean its right to wish that on anyone! people like you are as bad as the fundies!
b) what this person, like so many fundies, forgets is that even with DADT in effect there are already gays in the military, and secondly no one eho has HIV or any serious desiease for that matter is not allowed to give blood under any circumstances.
c) kristine I still can't believe you siad that you are truely a monster.
6/15/2010 9:40:06 AM
So, if the gays are not allowed to serve openly this would be better how? If they hide their orientation wouldn't that increase the likelihood of tainted blood going to straight, non-infected soldiers? At least in your little mind?
6/15/2010 9:41:09 AM
This is complete bullshit. Soldiers are tested all the time for HIV. If they get it, they are medically discharged.
6/15/2010 9:42:08 AM
1) "Gay" does not equal "HIV-positive". Plenty of gay and lesbian individuals do not have HIV. Plenty of straight individuals do have HIV. This is an argument, though it doesn't really merit that title, against allowing HIV-positive people to serve.
2) There exist such things as blood screening, wearing medical bracelets to advise doctors etc. of one's medical situation, and simply saying "I can't donate my blood, I'm HIV-positive." I highly doubt that medical professionals, even on battlefields, would drain some blood from an unconscious soldier without bothering to check anything and stick it straight into another soldier. And if they were, the recipient would have far more to worry about from incompatible blood groups than from any sort of disease.
I also don't think HIV-positive soldiers are allowed anyway, though I'm not sure on that one, not being American.
6/15/2010 9:42:16 AM
This seems like an excellent reason to repeal DADT. Now that gays have to pretend to be straight, you can't differentiate straight from gay. If DADT was repealed, red blooded soldier check off some box that says "I ain't want no homo blood." We'd know who the gays are and they wouldn't get their blood.
6/15/2010 9:45:19 AM
What's your take on open lesbians in the military?
6/15/2010 9:46:32 AM
Kristine, don't be such a Hanoi Jane.
6/15/2010 9:48:17 AM
@uttaku: What's the problem? It would be poetic justice (well, it would be more poetic if they were killed by an enemy soldier, but oh well).
@feralboy12: But since Teh Gayz are so depraved, they will most likely cheat during the test, resulting in contaminated blood ;-)
6/15/2010 9:50:31 AM
your suggesting that because some soldiers were ordered to iraq, afganistan where the vast majority are innocent men and women who simpled joined to serve the country, or because they always wanted to be a soldier, or it was the best job they could get, should be infected with a truely monstrous desiease.
Well fuck you! you are a fucking bitch! and while i could wish HIV down on you I won't because unlike you i have some morals!
6/15/2010 9:55:13 AM
This is painfully stupid. As if the US army would let people with HIV serve, gay or straight. What a moron.
6/15/2010 10:01:06 AM
@uttaku: Oh, I get it. Killing people is okay if it's done for ones country, or because one really likes being a soldier.
P.S: You're funny when you're angry.
6/15/2010 10:01:35 AM
@ kristine, hate the politicians who got us into this mess, not our neighbors, friends, and family members who are only trying to support themselves and their families.
@OP gay =/= hiv-positive
6/15/2010 10:04:08 AM
1987 called. It says it wants your fantasy back.
6/15/2010 10:05:47 AM
First of all, there already are gays in the military, most just don't tell everyone. Second, isn't a medical examination standard fare in the military? You'd think they test for stuff like that, especially when blood donations are needed.
6/15/2010 10:12:19 AM
Yeah, because EVERY soldier has killed innocents. Hell, that's why they sign up, right? You do realize that's just as stupid a generalization as "all gays have aids"?
You are a douche and as bad as the fundy you are attempting to mock. I fully expect your quote to be featured on FSTDT.
6/15/2010 10:17:43 AM
@carmen: I hate (well, "hate" is too strong a word) both of them: The brains planning as well as the hands executing the plan. Maybe those friends, neighbors and family members should find another way of supporting themselves, one that does not involve invading foreign countries and killing people.
@1168177: I agree, my initial statement was not nuanced enough. But a soldier who *has* killed an innocent is nothing more than a murderer.
6/15/2010 10:22:23 AM
They we'll need lots of lesbiansin the military to donate blood, because lesbians have a lower rate of AIDS than straight white christian men. Also you don't want to see what happens when a Taliban tries to make a lesbian with PMS wear a burka.
6/15/2010 10:24:24 AM
DOS Et AL
Hate us? If so, you are more than free to Join your American hating friends in Tehran or Pyongyang. Those are cities by the way, They welcome an american hater like you. After saying what you sais, i firmly believe YOU deserve no better thsn being killed. DO me a favor and go to South Korea, and cross the DMZ its a great yourist attraction, and you'll love the experience of crossing the DMZ.
BTW theres a reason gays arent allowed to donate blood plasma and in certain places whole blood, its because they are high risk individuals, and those are medical personel speaking BTW. Never thought about what this guy said before, but its another great reason to keep gays out of the military. That and protecting straight ment right to not be oogled by promiscuous homos, whose only reason to join is because the sausage fest that is the military.
6/15/2010 10:28:17 AM
Now if gays are allowed into the military...
You seem unfamiliar with DADT. There ARE evil gays in the military. They just have to lie about it.
...they will be inevitably be put in battlefield situations where donated blood from soldiers may be necessary to save the lives of wounded comrades.
INEVITABLY. Wow. Not plausible, or likely, but INEVITABLE. Jeez, no hyperbole here, now, is there?
An HIV-infected American soldier whose blood is used in those circumstances may very well condemn his fellow soldier to death rather than save his life.
Whereas if the fellow soldier is straight, that is a 100% Guarantee that it is clean, right? Because since AIDS is a Fag Disease, no straight man EVER tested positive for HIV. Never, ever. It's attitudes like this that contribute to the rise of new HIV infections in Heterosexuals. Not to mention, do you seriously think they'd just hook a soldier up to another, and pump his blood straight in? I mean aside from this very reason, to prevent transmission of disease, you give someone the wrong blood type, the consequenses can be dire.
If open homosexuals are allowed into the United States military, the Taliban won't need to plant dirty needles to infect our soldiers with HIV. Our own soldiers will take care of that for them.
Whereas if they aren't allowed to be honest, then the HIV can't be transmitted? Fuck, I would think you'd like open homosexuals in the military, if this is your thought process.
6/15/2010 10:32:59 AM
@DOS: "Hate us? If so, you are more than free to Join your American hating friends"
How did you get from disliking soldiers to hating America? Wait, you're an idiot, that's how.
"in Tehran or Pyongyang."
Do they pay well?
"Those are cities by the way,"
Really? You don't say.
"DO me a favor"
Why should I? You're nothing but an idiot.
"sausage fest that is the military"
Sounds like the military is kind of ... gay.
6/15/2010 10:33:28 AM
They do test blood for HIV before using it for transfusions you know.
6/15/2010 10:40:34 AM
1. Gays already serve in the military; they just weren't allowed to say it before (to me that seems like a human rights violation since they weren't allowed to date, either).
2. You have to be tested before you can donate blood. Guess what they look for while running these blood tests?
3. I don't know about you, but it seems to me that the Taliban favour more overt tactics like suicide bombers and firing guns.
@Kristine: the majority of military personnel are not on the front lines. Most of them don't even fire a gun. And guess what? Some of them, like the engineers, help people in Afghanistan by doing things like helping to rebuild houses. Even if you don't like the soldiers, do keep in mind that they often have families at home who are currently under a lot of stress because they don't necessarily know if their loved ones are going to come home (whether because of death or severe mental trauma).
6/15/2010 10:42:55 AM
Gays are in the military.
Deal with it.
