Quote# 73172

The moral component [of homosexuality] and it's effect on the disintegrating American family is far more important than the effect or absence thereof on combat effectiveness. This country is in far more danger from domestic decay than it is from foreign enemies though they must be dealt with.

"You do realize military servicemen take an oath to defend The American Constitution, not The American Family, right?"

The former cannot and will not function and is in fact not functioning without the latter. [...]

You do know that homosexuals have families, right?

They don't spring into being fully formed and fabulous.

Families don't work that way, kid.

So the US Constitution works because of families?! Um, I sorta see your point but, more practically speaking, families will only thrive and survive when the nation is secure which is greatly affected by our combat readiness.

So we should draft all gays into the military to keep them out of families?

You almost have a point. Without people, the Constitution is just a fancy piece of paper.

However, I doubt that homosexuality is the huge reason for disintegrating the American family. For example, both of my older siblings got a divorce from their respective spouses over the last year: homosexuality didn't figure in in any way. Nor with anyone else I've ever met who has gotten a divorce.

Homosexuality has been around for centuries, and the world has yet to end. Individual societies have collapsed, but never due to homosexuals, and more societies just rise anyway.

Its seven in the morning and I'm tired, and I'm not sure where I'm going with this, so I'll just end with this: stfu Tiribulus.

Let me see, how do homosexuals come into being? Well, theyhave a mom and a dad...Hey! That's a family. So the family is the responsible agent for engendering homosexuals. That does it. Families should be banned. Quick! Change the constitution to avoid teh Gheys!

Now I imagine stereotypical gay men in pink tight clothes, shooting on hapless American families with their futuristic disintegration ray guns.

Wait, so we can't uphold our country's founding laws like freedoms of speech if we stop restricting the freedoms of gays?

WHAT??

And nevertheless, two facts remain:
Unless they force you to marry a homosexual, your point about the family is....................well, it isn't. Second, the oath remains, thanks.

I think it's time that conservatives realize that the traditional family is kind of a thing of the past. Blended families and single-parent homes are commonplace these days, and there's no indication that we'll ever go back to Ward, June, Wally & the Beaver any time soon.

Tiribulus, which American family? We've got two-parent families (both with straight and gay parents), poly triads, single-parent families, families in which the parents have divorced and remarried to other people, biological parents, surrogate parents, adoptive parents, childless married couples...the list goes on.

You do know that the nuclear family (what you're thinking of as the American Family) came from around the 1950's and is thus much younger than the USA, right?

OK. As soon as there is a constitutional amendment passed making our military forces take an oath to the family you can have your way.
Until then, shut the fuck up and stop being a whiny bitch.

Gay or not the Constitution won't function without people. If the people aren't protected then it's for naught. Gay or not if they can do it let them.

@ GigaGuess

Pretty much anybody who has more than, say, five or six relatives has gay people IN his or her family.
They may not know it, but they do.
