Quote# 73028

As a Christian and as a public servant, I have never wavered in my belief that this world and everything in it is a masterpiece created by the hands of God. As a member of the Alabama Board of Education, the record clearly shows that I fought to ensure the teaching of creationism in our school textbooks. Those who attack me have distorted, twisted and misrepresented my comments and are spewing utter lies to the people of this state.

I wish all the fundies would go ahead and secede to Alabama like they were saying a few years ago.

Then we can target the orbital weapons platform...

Understand, this is the candidate that OTHER repubs are attacking, actually using EVOLUTION and THE BIBLE as political talking points.
They say that Byrne is unfit for office because he's said that evolution is true and the bible cannot be taken literally.
Yes, I live in Alabama, and yes, sometimes I'm ashamed to admit it.

I honestly feel sorry for the people from Alabama that aren't pig ignorant or inbred that are constantly being accused of being both because of geniuses like this.

So wait, insisting on being a creationist is a point in YOUR FAVOR for getting on the Alabama Board of Education and becoming governor?! I've never been to Alabama so I can't really comment but this sure doesn't do a whole lot to dispell the inbred/hillbilly/redneck stereotype that seems to go along with that state.

You admit trying to teach creationism to innocent young children. Why would anyone NEED to distort your comments to show you to be a fool and an a**hole?

Understand the context here... this guy is being attacked by fellow Republicans who are trying to portray him as being semi-rational, ridiculing him for once saying that not all of the Bible is literally true. And, twisted as it is, he has to pander to the same people that those other scumbags are pandering to.

@PeachyMetalhead

Yeah, I know it's not all rednecks, and I'm glad to know that not everybody in that state is an idiot.

Dear Alabama,

You can do better than the guy Byrne is running against. Seriously, you can. Please?

Signed,

The distortion he's talking about is the suggestion he 'believes' in evolution...

Oh yeah? Well Dingus McDerpderp thinks the Earth is flat and he denies science. I don't mean scientific theories and findings, I mean he actually doesn't think science exists. Not only that, but the only word in his vocabulary is "Jesus". Clearly he's the best man for the job while the other candidates are just a bunch of liberal communist atheists. This message is approved by Dingus McDerpderp; or it would be if he didn't get his head stuck in the dresser again.

So you want to teach creationism but you're concerned about people spreading lies?

So basically his opponent is saying Byrne is "one o' them dam' Volvo-drivin', Chardonnay-sippin', God-denyin' liburuls who don't believe in God's Word" and Byrne is saying "no, I'm not - I'm as big a science-denying, dumb-assed fundie as you are - shucks, mebbe even more so!"

Creationism = religion

Theory of Evolution = Science

Science belongs in schools, religion does NOT.

Can't wait to see how this election pans out.

Oh for fucks sake!

Only in a third world society like USA can you find a politician running for higher office wanting to teach mythological fantasies over proven science.

The sad thing is that this statement is in response to an attack ad that accused him of being insufficiently Christian.

We all better hope this idiot wins because he's running against "Judge" Roy Moore, the asshole that put a 10 foot stone statue of the 10 commandments in the Alabama Supreme Court building and then refused to take it down when ordered to do so by a federal court.

Believe it or not, Byrne is by far the better choice. How sad is that?
