"how can a muslim and a Jesus Christ follower have anything in common."
Maybe they believe in the ideas of peace and altruism towards fellow human beings? I'm non Christian and I think there should be more of those in society.

One of the replies is "The road to Heaven should not contain off ramps that lead to Hell...." and thanks to that fundy I cannot get highway to hell out of my head.

Oh, I KNOW! What could those evil, heartless Muslims have in common with good, compassionate Christians like yourself, eh?
5/18/2010 5:21:03 PM
More than you might think.

For you to state that Muslims don't believe Jesus exists is the height of ignorance on your part. He is one of their most revered prophets, second only to Muhammad.
They just don't believe he was god. In that respect their beliefs are more sensible than yours, since the divinity of Jesus was decided by committee by the early Christian church at Nicea in 325 CE.

"Blood for the blood god" is the same no matter which delusional cult/sect you belong to.

Whenever I read comments like this I am reminded of the movie "Blazing Saddles" - specifically the scene in the church where the schoolmarm reads the letter she wrote to the Governor protesting the new *black* sherrif.
If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about - if not explanations are pointless.

Shhhh. Nobody tell her about the Buddhist and Wiccan chaplains.

"...how can a muslim and a Jesus Christ follower have anything in common."
Well for starters they both worship the same god.
5/18/2010 10:47:42 PM
They both believe in the same god for one thing...

@ Captain Klamydia
I share the sentiment there.

You know, this talk of chaplains in the military makes me think of super-humans in black power armour and skull masks, who bash people to death while reciting litanies of hate to inspire their comrades to similar feats of slaughter.

"he is a lier(sic)"
Can't be a liar if you never existed.
OTOH you are illiterate.

How can a Christian have anything to do with anyone who thinks Jesus 'was not who he say he was'?
He said he was the son of man. Not even in your own Bible did Jesus claim to be God.
The closest he came was to say he was the son of the father, not that he was God himself. There's millions of believers across the world calling God 'Father' without ever meaning that they are also God.
He also affirmed David's psalm saying that the Jews were like gods in that they had the scriptures.
So there you have it. Anyone who says God is a Trinity is calling Jesus a 'lier'.
Oh, all Muslims believe that Jesus did exist.

"how can a muslim and a Jesus Christ follower have anything in common"
Well, as military chaplains, they share the common desire to ensure that our troops have a place to worship and someone to talk to about religious matters.
This isn't a school of theology, it's a school for "how to ensure that the people of your faith in the armed forces are receiving your spiritual and emotional support."

They were both indoctrinated into a selfish, egotistical, and exclusionary cult as children.
They both believe in divine magic.
They both believe in the efficacy of prayer despite all evidence to the contrary.
They are both, to some degree, obsessed with death.

I was quite shocked at this statement, but then I realized it came from RR.
5/19/2010 12:46:19 PM
You mean a Christian, right? Muslims believe in Jesus, they just think he was a prophet instead of the son of God.
5/19/2010 2:34:43 PM
Goodness, gracious, no, that smacks of tolerance you know. Gosh, we can't have that, to admit that we have humane qualities, what a calamity. Big no there, it doesn't seem to involve being a programmed jerk and is certainly not Biblical. And, I don't know what you were thinking there, but you almost sound as though you are educated and, God have mercy on us all, sane.
