Oh, so it's wrong to say that your mythology is, in fact, myth but it's okay for you to call mine fairytales and leave it at that. (Nevermind that most members of my particular branch of paganism don't take our tales at face value and instead choose to examine them for various messages and meanings our ancestors were trying to tell).

"who were upset about the implication that Christian beliefs are myths."
If I had been duped into investing my whole life in a myth I'd be upset too.

The basis for religion is myth and legend. There maybe truth to it but it is based on older myths and legends.

But yet, if you ask Christians about Zeus, they'll happily say that it's part of Greek mythology. I guess it's only mythology when it's someone else's religion.

Why was it in a science book to begin with? Oh, never mind, this happened in Tennessee.

I thought Tennessee already had this trial in the 1920s.
Get over your persecution complex. No one is trying to undermine anybody's religious beliefs; they just don't belong in science class, where we only teach things for which we have scientific evidence. There is no commentary on opinions about intelligence being behind the origin of life, or the lack thereof.

Argument from incredulity. You shouldn't be anywhere near a schoolboard with that childish a mindset.
Also it never ceases to amaze me how easily the faith of the devout can be shaken. "Genesis is just a story !?!!?!" <collapses into jelly>

Believe what you will Zimmerman, the problem is there is no evidence for this "intelligence" anywhere. Evolution neither needs it nor wants it.

I'm soo with you on this one. I often choke on air, stupidly enough. I guess it's excess saliva going down or something, but suddenly I choke and can't breathe. My husband just looks at me like I'm stupid. Veeery helpful...
Intelligent design - yeah right!!!
solomongrundy, I'm with you too. Nobody in Europe would voluntarily say such stupid things.
