I don't know, maybe I've been spoiled due to growing up in the United States and attending a nondenominational, co-ed university, but I really cannot understand why fundies (Muslim, Jewish, Christian, all) seem to have paroxysms of rage at the mere thought of boys and girls freely interacting together. I really don't get it.
I go to class with male and female students every day. I've had lunch with male friends. I see male and female students have lunch together, walk to class together, go over to each other's dorms to study together, all while maintaining purely platonic relationships. And almost all of the female students in my university that I've seen wear mostly shirts and jeans (i.e. not burkas or hijabs). And yet nobody thinks that it's a big deal. The school adminstration doesn't try to segregate the sexes or make the girls wear burkas just so that the boys won't rape them. It's taken for granted that a boy and girl can be together alone and have it be for a purely innocent reason. Nobody screeches, "Omigosh, there's mixing of the genders in the dining halls! Boys and girls are sitting together ALONE, without any other boys or girls with them! Without adult supervision! And the girls' bodies aren't completely covered from head to toe! And they aren't having sex or making out, they're just sharing a civil conversation and enjoying dinner! Gasp!"
Yeah, I second this. I've gone to schools where the genders have mixed for my entire life (secular public schools, at that), and I'm 24 years old and still a virgin. Boys are just...boys. There's no reason to fear them; most of them are decent people who aren't going to hurt you. And girls are just girls; they're not running around wanting to fuck every boy they see. Good lord. >_>

Saudi Arabia has the "Ka'ba", the alleged graves of the holiest Muslim figures including Mohammad himself, not to mention a bunch of other structures and places of extremely high religious significance.
Attacking that place for any reason at all, would (or, could) result in the 1.5 billion followers of Islam turning against the US, the economic ramifications of which would be dire for American business across the planet. It is just much cheaper to keep the Saudi royal family in your pocket (one of the prime reasons why many Muslims generally tend to despise the US foreign policies), and get things done through them.

No no! Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. I am shocked at the rampant Islamophobia on this website, you should be attacking Christianity which caused the 1000 years of Dark Ages and killed every single scientist while Islam invented the smart phones! If it is their culture to segregate genders and marry children to adults we should not interfere with that, in fact we need more Islamic immigration in our own countries so we can become a truly multicultural and diverse paradise on Earth and break this bland culture dominated by Christianity or atheism / secular humanism! And we need to change our own laws too to accommodate their beliefs. Modern European cultures with their gender equality and age of consent laws, freedom and democracy these things are not superior, they're just relative! On foreign policy we need to help the Muslim Ummah restore the glorious Caliphate, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a wicked atheist Islamophobe backed by the western imperialist colonialist powers!
