He didn't convert to Christianity, he was born into it and was raised in it.

To a couple new organizations' credits, a handful of them tracked the guy down, and was quoted as saying that he's proud of Barack, despite only speaking to him twice (at the time) and that he doesn't want charity. As memory serves, one of them was 60 Minutes, but then, I have a horrible memory.
