Do you think your God would seriously be happy with you editing his work?
1/25/2010 1:18:42 AM
Editing the Bible?
You mean changing what you insist is the infallible, literal word of God to make it conform to the platform of the Republican party, don't you?
1/25/2010 1:19:33 AM
I am telling you Schlafly is a Poe. I bet my paycheck he admits this 5 years down the road and writes a book.

Off the top of my head, GPS satellites. They orbit Earth, hence move faster, hence time is infinitesimally faster for them. But it is taken into account so the time on the satellite and that on the ground don't get out of synch.
1/25/2010 1:28:56 AM
I really hope that's true. It's impossible for me to wrap my brain around someone this educated being this stupid.
Either that or he's going to write a tell all book about the things his mommy did to him to fuck him up this badly.
1/25/2010 2:07:46 AM
editing? Is that honesty on Crapypedia?
1/25/2010 2:19:37 AM
"I am telling you Schlafly is a Poe"
I've been thinking this for a while now.
Wikipedia was tired of the conservatards mucking up their pages so they got together and created Conservapedia to drive them away. Then realizing their success they decided to go for ultimate lulz and troll and poe them for our amusement.
It's like Landover Baptist except no one has seen behind the curtain yet.

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
You are Satans tool Andy...
1/25/2010 2:42:21 AM
I'm guessing he meant editing the Bible entry on Conservapedia.
The only alternative is that he is entering a new phase of insanity and is having delusions of godhood.
1/25/2010 2:47:32 AM
Well, at least he's finally admitting the true goals of the 'Conservative Bible Project'.
Not that anyone (atheist, Christian, liberal or conservative) should be shocked by this revelation.
1/25/2010 2:48:48 AM
In addition to the already mentioned GPS systems, nuclear physics relies heavily on the theory of special relativity. For better or worse, this is essential for nuclear weapons and power plants. Apparently Andy denies this.
Even if there wasn't any applications for relativity (again, there are) it's still how nature works. If you care about truth or reality....oh, I see.

I thought the Bible was the infallable, perfect word of God.
(OK, no, I didn't, but fundies seem to think that.)
1/25/2010 3:23:12 AM
If it wasn't our good friend Assfly, this quote would scream Poe. Very strange...
1/25/2010 3:23:31 AM
Has anyone else noticed the latest fundie mania for ending their nonsensical rants with phrases like:
"This my final reply"
"That is all"
Are that all suddenly Roman emperors?
1/25/2010 4:13:54 AM
This is not a poe. I repeat, this is not a poe.
1/25/2010 4:25:40 AM
This guy is not a poe. Google his mother Phyllis and read some of her gems. She's famous for opposing women's rights, and has been just as loony as he is for decades.

David B.Free electron lasers
. A tunable laser source used in medicine and metallurgy.
Oh, and the military thinks they may be useful in shooting down enemy missiles. I'm sure Andy would approve of that if it weren't all "evilutionist propaganda."
1/25/2010 4:34:16 AM
Do something logical, such as editing the Bible
What like editing all the crap out? There'd be nothing left.
1/25/2010 5:02:06 AM
"Nothing useful has even been designed or built using relativity."
" If you want to look and look and look for a counterexample then you'll be wasting your time. I'm not going to waste mine."
I wasted about 2 seconds thinking of that example.
1/25/2010 6:07:00 AM
Editing the bible? I'm all for that! I mean, did you ever read the shitty book? The first thing it needs is heavy edition to make it less redundant and more sensical.
1/25/2010 6:30:52 AM
Atomic power plants
The computer with which you are spewing your ignorance. (OK, more quantum physics than relativity, but still part of Einstein's 'miracle year').

Andy Schlafly: Liar, Lunatic or Lord?
Okay, we can rule out Lord. However, Poe or clinically insane? I lean heavily towards the latter. Most of the crazy comments posted here are made in the back waters of Conservapedia talk pages, where it's often not seen by many. As mentioned, his mother made a career fighting fundie causes. And he (quite unfortunately) "teaches" children his crazy brand of Christianity.
However, I am convinced that there are many (not so well hidden) Poes on Conservapedia. In fact, Andy's most ardent supporters have turned out to be people bent on making conservapedia look as ridiculous as possible (see http://rationalwiki.com/wiki/Bugler). By supporting Andy they both achieve this goal and rise quickly up the ranks in the Stalinist state of Conservapedia.
1/25/2010 6:34:43 AM
Actually, he could be on to something.
The bible really does need a decent editors hand on it. A bit of work to start bringing the narrative together, removing the contradictions, getting rid of some of the various authors' self-inserts and Mary-Sues...
Why, I'd bet with some judicious trimming you could make a reasonably literate and readable novella from it.
1/25/2010 7:22:53 AM
But, wouldn't editing the Bible be heresy? It is the infallible word of God after all...
