* If women were taught about their bodies and not taught to be ashamed of them, they'd actually guess they were pregnant about the 3rd week, which is when most OTC tests can show a result too.
* Again, if they were taught their bodies aren't the "evil" that I was taught (in my yankee public high school even) I'd have paid more attention when we WERE taught about the development of the fetus and had all that info.
* However, despite the rest of my bullet points, we are still talking about a fetus, a clump of potential child, a parasite by definition, and something that often spontaneously aborts itself.
PS I'm a bit bitter because in 1992 or so a crazy lady outside gave me a bunch of pictures of supposed "disposed" babies as well as a plastic fetus outside the hospital... I was having a mole removed, but I guess teenager + hospital = abortion to her. Funny how their literature, which I read completely, only served to cement my opinion of CHOICE.

Actually, nerve development in fetuses takes much longer than heart development - as does brain development. Soooo...No, the fetuses do not feel pain that early. Please, take a biology class.

Don't be ridiculous. Conception is a well-understood biochemical process. God doesn't "place the baby into your womb" any more than He personally reaches down and smashes the glass on the floor when you knock it off the table. If God were directly involved, there'd be no need for abortions because no one would ever get pregnant against their will. After all, supposedly "your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."

Sorry, no nerves, no brain, it can't feel pain.
She is right that the embryo has a heart at that stage. However, it is not a four-chambered heart like a born human has.
It is a two-chambered heart. Like a fish heart. The other chambers develop gradually over the term of gestation--yet ANOTHER reason why embryos are not viable on their own.
And as for why teenage girls don't know jack shit about pregnancy--well, maybe if you idiots would stop with your knee-jerk condemnation of comprehensive sex education, they'd actually LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Fundies aren't against abortion. They're against having sex for fun without "paying for it". That's why they illogically also oppose sex education and birth control, even though these two things would reduce abortions far more than all the picketing and bombing of abortion clinics, running around with pictures of dead fetuses and giving girls scary information ever have or ever will. The US has a higher abortion rate than any of the major European countries - not because Americans are more callous toward abortion, but because they use less birth control.
