Do you live in a cave? The agenda is to make society accept homosexuality as normal and good.

Have you noticed that

...anyone who thinks homosexuality is immoral is called a "homophobe" and has "narrow views?"

...books and magazines extolling gay behavior are easy to buy or find at the library, whereas before, they weren't?

...there are programs in schools to teach children that homosexuality is okay (this has been going on for over 10 yrs. in my area) and that gay marriage is okay?

...the more extreme and bizarre fringe of the gay culture is now more acceptable or at least not as shocking to people?

....that many once conservative churches (not to mention the liberal ones) accept homosexual couples as members, and more churches are ordaining them as ministers?

Teaching that people are people and their love lives are none of your business.

Actually, yes, I do live in a cave. A wattle-and-daub hut was far too sophisticated for my liking, so I downshifted a step further. I spend my days gathering grains and hunting game, butchering my kills with a flint shard and roasting the flesh over an open fire. The next woman I see is going to get beaten over the head and dragged into my cave by her hair, so I can have my wicked way with her. You should drop by next time you're passing; with attitudes like yours I reckon you'd fit right in.

Seems like a good exercise in circular reasoning if you ask me.

1. You have proven a hypothesis that I have, which holds that the words moral and immoral are words that seriously need to be reduced in usage. Teaching people that something innate in another person is immoral make you xenophobic. Xenophobia aimed at the gay community is homophobia, pure and simple.

2. Notwithstanding the fact that there's more of them -- which is to say that the applicable folks in marketing realized that there's money to be made by catering to the gay community -- I'd say they're no easier to find today than they were 20 years ago or so...

3. Well, if honesty is okay, why shouldn't these things be taught as okay. There's not enough programs out there, actually.

4. And how is this different from the changing definition of shocking in straight circles? Need I remind you that when Elvis Presley appeared on Ed Sullivan, they only showed him from the waist up because of objections to him
moving his hips?

5. Like the magazine issue, this sounds more like a question of economics with PR thrown in. I, personally loved that United Church of Christ ad from a few years ago with the bouncer turning people away from the church...

1. Because you are.

2. It's called cultural progression.

3. Lucky you, I've not seen any around here. And oh no, they're teaching kids not to be prejudiced fuckwipes? The horror!

4. What exactly do you call 'extreme and bizarre'? The sex? Because there's not a lot that gay couples can do that heterosexual couples can't...

5. GOOD.

As a rather amusing thought experiment, substitute "Homosexual" for "Black" and see how the post reads:

Have you noticed that

...anyone who thinks Being Black is immoral is called a "nigraphobe" and has "narrow views?"

...books and magazines extolling black behavior are easy to buy or find at the library, whereas before, they weren't?

...there are programs in schools to teach children that Being Black is okay (this has been going on for over 10 yrs. in my area) and that black marriage is okay?

...the more extreme and bizarre fringe of the black culture is now more acceptable or at least not as shocking to people?

....that many once conservative churches (not to mention the liberal ones) accept black couples as members, and more churches are ordaining them as ministers?

...the more extreme and bizarre fringe of the gay culture is now more acceptable or at least not as shocking to people?

But we can still shock people by wanting to get married or serve in the military. It's funny how that works, huh?

You say all that like it's a bad thing. Everything example you started is the sign of a progressive society. What you want are the Dark Ages. I think there are still some left in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Why don't you move?

"Do you live in a cave? The agenda is to make society accept homosexuality as normal and good."

Please show that homosexuality is not normal. Also, describe the criteria by which you judged homosexuality to not be good, or at least as good as any other sexual preference, then establish your credentials for being the judge of such things.

"Have you noticed that

...anyone who thinks homosexuality is immoral is called a 'homophobe' and has 'narrow views?'"

Yes, because they are.

"...books and magazines extolling gay behavior are easy to buy or find at the library, whereas before, they weren't?"

Before what? And, so what?

"...there are programs in schools to teach children that homosexuality is okay (this has been going on for over 10 yrs. in my area) and that gay marriage is okay?"

Uh, even if that actually is true... so what?

"...the more extreme and bizarre fringe of the gay culture is now more acceptable or at least not as shocking to people?"

Uh huh, as is the more extreme and bizarre fringe of heterosexual behavior.

"....that many once conservative churches (not to mention the liberal ones) accept homosexual couples as members, and more churches are ordaining them as ministers?"

Uh huh. I support your right not to go to those churches.

I can't wrap my head around their problem with being called homophobes. If you're against equality for gays and lesbians, you are a homophobe. Homophobes get called homophobes for purposes of description. Why would we refrain from calling homophobes homophobes? What word are we supposed to use?

I read the thread with amusement: first there is a fundie fight between a young fundie and an older (more bigotted) one - each hurling like thunderbolts at the other.

The older cnut denies man free will - surely a pivotal characteristic of Xianity?

Do you live in a cave? The agenda is to make society accept homosexuality as normal and good.

Oh no, promoting tolerance!

...anyone who thinks homosexuality is immoral is called a "homophobe" and has "narrow views?"

Yeah, that tends to be the case. Ever noticed how a person who kills another person is labeled a "murderer"?

...books and magazines extolling gay behavior are easy to buy or find at the library, whereas before, they weren't?

This would be because people are more tolerant of gays. You're less likely to get hanged for writing about being gay, so people do it more often.

...there are programs in schools to teach children that homosexuality is okay (this has been going on for over 10 yrs. in my area)

Good. It's about time we started teaching people to be more tolerant.

and that gay marriage is okay?

Is there a reason it's not? "My invisible friend says so" is not a reason.

...the more extreme and bizarre fringe of the gay culture is now more acceptable or at least not as shocking to people?

No shit.

....that many once conservative churches (not to mention the liberal ones) accept homosexual couples as members

They probably learned to stop cherry-picking from the Bible and became a little more loving and caring. You know, paying attention to that whole "love thy neighbor" thing.

and more churches are ordaining them as ministers?

So don't go to those churches if you're that intolerant of it.

...And all of this is a bad thing how? I find whenever I have the misfortune of seeing an article or video 'uncovering' the 'gay agenda', I more often than not spend the entire time thinking "so what?" or "that's a good thing!". Do we really have to put up with fundie/trad family types moaning over things that any reasonable person would applaud?

Do you notice that, when people don´t live in a closet any longer, logically, they enjoy things that they didn´t before?. Or that you are aware of things that you ignored in the past?. Talk about living in a cave.
