[Re: Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles]

I disagreed with the lying from the husband, the lady (almost a main character) who dresses enticingly (I know people who’ve been delivered from pornography and adultery who I hope don’t see this movie for the sake of them and the generational sin that could tempt their children). I totally disagreed with the “darn you!” in the parents' argument—power in our words—kids repeating this?! I disagreed with the “flexible” sexual innuendo, the suicide attempt (later having to explain this to a child?) and tell me why the baby had to turn into a firebaby then a devilbaby? It was ugly and made my spirit feel uncomfortable. I don’t know why it was rated PG, but I am glad it wasn’t rated G. There is a lot of violence for small kids and would probably cause my nieces and nephew to have nightmares.
My Ratings: [Very Offensive/5]

The FBI is controlling your thoughts via your toaster.

Tell me Carla, why do fundies suck the joy out of living? It's just a cute lighthearted movie. If you see evil in it, you're insane, ok.

You talk about nieces and a nephew.
I guess you have no children of your own.
Keep it that way, PLEASE.

No actual adultery was involved. He was lying because superheroism was ILLEGAL, not because he was cheating on his wife. Maybe he should have told her, if nobody else, but characters who lie to save the world are going to place pretty low in any list of scumbags. Lower than fundies on mine, anyway.

How, just how do you ever have any fun if you're so paranoid about evil? I grew up with parents like you who felt they had to explain everything "evil" in movies. Even IN THE THEATER. It was annoying, embarrassing, and insulting.

And lay off my favorite movie. It's really hard to make films that appeal to both kids and adults. The Incredibles actually portrays a very strong marriage and loving parents.

"Darn you?" Seriously? He was endangering himself and their family. I'm surprised she kept herself from completely blowing up.

I support you... in your right not to watch this or any other movie. Now STFU and go away.

Why isn't she campaigning for the Bible to be rated NC-17, if she's so concerned about children being exposed to sex, violence and evil?

Someone's life sounds very dull.
Are there any movies you would consider suitable for children? How about Mel Gibson's torture porn classic "The Passion of the Christ"?

Did she watch the same "Incredibles" that I did? I don't remember any porn scenes or a suicide attempt.

Methinks Carla led (leads!) a sheltered life.

Dammit. I was expecting to see David J. Stewart as the fundie that said this, not some woman named Carla.

Instead pick up a bible and read about rape, infanticide and genocide...that’s much better than "flexibility" and "darn you"s

What different opinions we have. I think it is rather a sweet story, telling that families are stronger when working together.

Is it the secretary who is dressing "enticingly"? I can't remember her as more enticing than the wife. Maybe younger, but that is all.
Clothes are not everything, you know. Apperances and attitudes mean just as much.

Btw, what's so bad about being sexy and confident?
Oh, sorry, forgot who I was writing to. You want women to be subdued, submissive, subhuman...

The violence here is non-realistic. That is less upsetting for young people; easier to understand it's fiction. Real violence; fathers hitting mothers or children, or killing them - that is way scarier, because they can relate.

My favourite is Edna Mode. That is one strong woman, not minding what others think about her.

My ratings: Cute and endearing, but rather childish.

Oh yes, I love how fundies see evil in every kid's movie that comes out. Sad part is, I bet Carla here took her kids to see Passion of the Christ several times when it came out, and then bought the DVD to show to her kids every Easter.

And don't forget, Disney is pro-gay because they allow gays to visit their theme parks the first weekend in May, and they own ABC which has had lots of pro-gay programming! Next they'll be coming after your kids!

The only thing you have demonstrated is that you can´t watch movies, even cartoons, because YOU can´t tell fact from fiction. Children can, fortunately.

@Sisyphus: IIRC there was indeed a suicide attempt, with the wannabe jumper suing Mr. Incredible for saving his life and starting the rash of anti-heroes lawsuits that ended up getting superheroism banned. Still no porn, though, unless you rule 34 the movie.
