1. The dictionary definition of hypergamy describes it as a practice among Hindu women where they will marry into a caste AT LEAST as high as their own.
1.1 Therefore if marriage was hypergamous it would allow for gender equity in a marriage provided that the groom was from at least the same caste as his fiancée.

2. The US is not a caste-based society, much less a Hindu-inspired caste-based society so the entire argument is utter nonsense.

When I chose my husband, he was merely a lowest grade engineer, still in our "gymnasium" level. Somewhere between your high school and college. I had higher grades than him in almost all subjects. Probably would have had in Spanish as well, If I had taken that class. I know more Spanish now than he does, even tough I have never taken a course in it.

He was nice and seemed kind, and had nice firm legs. That was what started it.
My parents have both taken college degrees, as have my three siblings. His parents have not. What were you saying?

People always do that, if he is a PhD in, say maths, then his opinions on marriage have no more weight than anyone else's.
