Doubting Thomas
So basically for some strange reason demonic possession has basically the same symptoms of mental illness or epilepsy?

I thought that speaking in tongues was a sign of a true Christian?
"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." -- Mark 16:17-18

Funny, that sounds like it describes most of the people on Rapture Ready perfectly... could it be that Christian extremists are actually just possessed by demons?

1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 has happened to me just before or during an epileptic seizure.
Maybe 8 too, I usually want to avoid everything, including band-aid, afterwards, before I'm really "there" again.
That is one really weak demon, it can be suppressed with Tegretol.

So, when someone is a drug addict, they are actually possessed by demons?
Oh, it's the Phillipines* (see the picture in the original quote below.) Suddenly, this makes more sense.
*Not meant as a racial denegration, but as a place where Catholicism is strong.

Okay. So performing lewd acts means demonic possession? And avoiding religious objects. Alright, got it. So, the question becomes this:
What about those who perform lewd acts with religious objects? Or does that mean I just love Jesus *that* much?

Then Edith Fiore should be fired from any job within the mental health system.
Maybe should be a patient

Yay, let's bring back medieval practices for dealing with the mentally ill! All those pesky demons possessing people everywhere... and what about people who sneeze lots of times in a row, or projectile vomit? That's totally demon possession too, ya know.

1. Hearing voices directing the person to perform acts he may not have considered doing.
I do have "twinlepathy" which has driven me to headlock my cousin whom I share it with, so maybe...?
2. He or she will frequently see or sense the image of the possessing spirit as it existed in its physical life.
I see dead people... just kidding.
3. The victim may blackout or faint without knowing what transpired during that time.
Uh oh, that's happened to me! Funny thing is, I was in a church at the time.
4. Sometimes, in the midst of a conversation, he may have a mental block and act in a trance-like manner.
Happens all the time to me.
5. He may be observed talking or walking differently or acting in a strange, irrational manner.
I change my talking and walking periodically, but that's just 'cause I'm paranoid.
6. He may act in a way he has never done before. His friends may see him as a totally different person.
My personality IS changing, and for the better. I'm not a psycho wimp any more.
7. In a worst scenario, the possession may reach a climax where the person may commit a crime, some violent or anti-social act and even suicide.
No, thank the heavens.
8. He or she may speak in tongues, and perform lewd acts and avoid religious objects (like a crucifix, rosary, etc.)
Um... on the tongues... does that include French or Japanese?
Assuming the latter includes French/Japanese, I score 6, or five if the latter doesn't. I guess I'm possessed.

1. Hearing voices directing the person to perform acts he may not have considered doing.
Like a Christian claiming to hear the voice of god?
2. He or she will frequently see or sense the image of the possessing spirit as it existed in its physical life.
Like seeing Jesus in random objects and foodstuffs?
4. Sometimes, in the midst of a conversation, he may have a mental block and act in a trance-like manner.
Like an evolution denier losing an argument?
5. He may be observed talking or walking differently or acting in a strange, irrational manner.
Like every fundie ever?
6. He may act in a way he has never done before. His friends may see him as a totally different person.
Like a born-again who can't stop prattling on about his newfound religion?
7. In a worst scenario, the possession may reach a climax where the person may commit a crime, some violent or anti-social act and even suicide.
Like murdering a doctor for providing a legal service?
8. He or she may speak in tongues, and perform lewd acts and avoid religious objects (like a crucifix, rosary, etc.)
Like those "War on Christmas" wingnuts who can't handle hearing anything about any other religion than their own during December?
Hm, so close. Just #3 I can't easily relate. Though that's fairly common among anyone with psychotic episodes, and I'm becoming more and more convinced fundyism is a form of psychosis...

Strange how your signs of "demon possession" also sound like a whole lot of other things, like PTSD, multiple personality disorder, being high . . .

Any or a combination of the following behavior pattern is indicative of spirits or alchohol in their possession:
1. Hearing voices directing the person to perform acts he may not have considered doing.
2. He or she will frequently see or sense the image of the possessing spirit as it existed in its physical life.
3. The victim may blackout or faint without knowing what transpired during that time.
4. Sometimes, in the midst of a conversation, he may have a mental block and act in a trance-like manner.
5. He may be observed talking or walking differently or acting in a strange, irrational manner.
6. He may act in a way he has never done before. His friends may see him as a totally different person.
7. In a worst scenario, the possession may reach a climax where the person may commit a crime, some violent or anti-social act and even suicide.
8. He or she may speak in tongues, and perform lewd acts and avoid religious objects (like a crucifix, rosary, etc.)
According to me, over 50 percent of those confined church in the United States are insane.
