Oh, for Pete's sake, I can't get my ass in an uproar over this. To me it simply makes the original more powerful. Besides, this what subway posters are for. Relax.
Fundies are threatened over a freakin' sign? I'd be surprised, but I'm not. Besides, what does it say in the bible about following the laws of the land. Last I knew vandalism of private property is wrong.
Note that the graffitist deliberately BLOTTED OUT out the name of the website at the bottom of the poster, rather than heckling it.
Christianity, like all pernicious memes, HATES competition.
I like the faint 'kill for' very Christian.
And does this mean that I can go after all those stupid ALPHA signs? Where it says "is this all there is" add, Yep, so go out and actually enjoy life? Oh the screaming that would come from that.
Or hey, maybe get the spare feet from evolvefish, and help those little Christian fishies evolve a little.
Around here that would hit the front page as evil vandalism.

It was probably written by a later artist, who opposed the Christian's vandalism.
Note how the second "are" looks like it has very faint pencil lines through it. The guy who wrote "KILL FOR" probably also crossed out that "are".
I lived for two years in Boston, and it seemed every other advertisement on the T was usually vandalized.
If I saw something like this, I wouldn't have even spent two seconds reading it.
And yes. It does draw more attention to the original message when one stops to analyze it.
@ tracer
I missed the second are being scratched out. Yeah, you're probably right.
And people are right, the graffiti does bring more attention. Maybe because this is more than the usual tagging and moustache drawing.
As I read it, the sign has been vandalised twice. The first, with the lighter pen, changed it to read "Good with God? 40 million Americans are killed." This was meanst as an anti-abortion message. The second vandal changed it to "Are you Good with God? Over 40 Million Americans are in need of Salvation."
Bit of a Fundie fight, really. But it would have been even funnier if they were also vandalising each others messages.
"Are are?" He seriously vandalized a sign to make it say "are are?"
Parents, this is what happens when you homeschool your kids. They lose all respect for the property of others, and they think that "are are" is grammatically correct.
To be fair, we don't actually know that a fundie is responsible. A more disturbing possibility is that it could be some deranged atheist who wanted to give the atheist movement more ammo.
It seems unlikely, however, that the person who vandalized the sign was motivated by anything other than their religious affirmations since the 'bostoncor.org' was crossed out.
Not vandalised, just shooped:

Now, I wonder what fundies would say if Atheists went round vandalising signs outside churches, billboards etc with religious messages, or even hacked fundie sites and played havoc therein? Would every fundie say 'Oh, it's alright, the 1st Amendment guarantees freedxom of expression', hmmmmmmm?
Hypocrisy, thy name is Fundie.
Yawn . . .
Not really a big deal.I've seen anti-Obama signs vandalized. Lots of signs get vandalized. However, I find it amusing that they find simple signs like this so threatening. I wonder what exactly their thought process is here. I imagine it's something like this:
"ZOMG! There are people out there who don't believe in God? And they actually manage to be good people?? Nooo! We must stop them! Otherwise, they'll take over and kill us all! The best way to make them stoop existing is to destroy this one sign. Obviously!"
But I really have no clue what's going on in these people's heads. Really, vandalizing the sign certainly doesn't make them look good. We can still clearly read what the sign orignially said. And do they think it's going to win converts? Because I'm just jumping up to join a religion with people who have no respect for other people's property and freedom of speech.
did anyone else happen to catch the faded out barely noticeable words "kill for" on the bottom left corner of this pic next to the word salvation? Yeah.... that about sums it up... 40 million Americans kill for salvation... FUCKWIT! *rolls eyes* no... that was YOUR people... back in the day. Not Americans.
Also... you left two "are"'s in your revision of the original message.... STOP DEFACING PUBLIC PROPERTY. YOU'RE DOIN IT WRONG! XD
The irony is that very few (if any) atheists are going to be offended by this. Unlike fundies, who would howl "persecution" if the reverse were to happen.
It is infantile and it is stupid, yes, but offensive? Nah.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
