CTSTDT if anything, and even then not that convincingly.
8/5/2009 10:35:56 AM
Well, then that is definitely the right attitude you got there.
8/5/2009 10:37:06 AM
As a cancer survivor myself(6 months in remission) I can tell you that is NOT how cancer works.
8/5/2009 10:44:44 AM
So chemo and radiation are simply to help cancer patients get in the mood to overcome their cancer?
8/5/2009 10:47:20 AM
You're an idiot. Smoking has been shown to have a very strong link with the occurrence of certain cancers, and it can safely be said to be causal. And if people not wanting to have cancer was a factor in curing cancer we'd have a lot fewer deaths from cancer.
Jeez. Some people will do anything to put responsibility on anyone besides themselves.
8/5/2009 10:58:53 AM
while the first paragraph is a pretty lame way to try and fail to dodge the obvious, second paragraph is pretty much true.
...and what the hell is this doing here in the first place.

Jezebel's Evil Sister
Geez, man up and just confess that you're addicted and unwilling or unable to stop at this point.
8/5/2009 11:08:42 AM
Agree, not fundie at all
8/5/2009 11:16:05 AM
There are quite a number of other problems involving carcinogens that are a bit trickier to just ignore.
8/5/2009 11:17:30 AM
Geez, man up and just confess that you're addicted and unwilling or unable to stop at this point
That's me to a tee
8/5/2009 11:20:29 AM
And you know what? If you wanna smoke tar, carbon monoxide, and a litany of other toxins, (And yes, cigarettes are packed with toxins and poisons. Read the labels.) go crazy. However, even if you don't believe that smoking causes cancer, if not in you, in others, how about the fact that it does trigger asthma attacks? Completely ignoring th fact that some of us do not like smelling like an ashtray as well?
Oh, and while the placebo effect may have some bearing on disease, it's not as effective when a cell itself goes maverick, and rebels against your very own body.
8/5/2009 11:26:18 AM
Unless you work for a tobacco company (which makes you a dick), you're pretty much an idiot, cancer doesn't work that way. carcinogen LITERALLY means "creator of cancer" and while it may not be a 100% cancer chance (depends on the agent and the subject exposed), the risk is still pretty high.
EDIT: yay, we're finding new kinds of fundie today!
8/5/2009 11:28:13 AM
Yes, smoking does cause cancer. It doesn't always cause cancer in every case (some smokers are lucky), nor is every case of lung cancer caused by smoking, but in many, many cases the cancer is a direct result of smoking.
If you want to smoke, fine - I'm not a health fascist - but don't try to kid yourself or others about the dangers, nor assume that you can stop yourself getting cancer by sheer willpower (that's totally absurd).
8/5/2009 11:31:46 AM
How is this even FSTDT? It's not even close to being in here.
8/5/2009 11:33:12 AM
This is goofy, not fundy.
8/5/2009 11:36:31 AM
Fundie word re-deffinition project!
8/5/2009 11:39:37 AM
Hey douchebag, if it makes cancer "more likely to get", then it FUCKING CAUSES CANCER.
8/5/2009 11:40:23 AM
As a libertarian, I apologise we have idiots like this fuckhead. Medicine helps. The mind can control certain things in the body but medicine would be the cure. And smoking causes cancer.
8/5/2009 11:42:46 AM
Hence smoking does NOT "cause" cancer. Smoking only makes it ten times more likely that you may get it.
8/5/2009 11:46:01 AM
I hope this statement doesn't come bacck and bite him on the bum
8/5/2009 11:49:33 AM
8/5/2009 11:59:16 AM
Impact with a speeding truck doesn't "cause" broken bones. It only makes broken bones more likely. Hence traffic accidents do NOT "cause" fatal injuries.
8/5/2009 12:21:50 PM
Well then by all means, keep smoking. I even advise you to smoke more often. Just dont do it around me, kthxbye
8/5/2009 12:28:50 PM
Also, this is more "idiots say the darndest things."
8/5/2009 12:29:18 PM
Here drink this poison. It won't kill you. It is only an agent that will make your death hugely more likely. There is a difference, right?
