Quote# 64282

I haven't been posting for a while, for a variety of reasons, but I really MUST post this.

Condoms do not work. They simply cannot guarantee to prevent either pregnancy or infection 100% of the time. This has disastrous consequences.

A friend of one of my friends, a girl of 15 years of age, recently had sex with her boyfriend. They used a condom. They used it properly. They were not drunk. They believed they were being responsible and indeed did everything that modern medicine and education tell young persons to do. It tore during intercourse. It failed completely.

The sad thing is that she was so terrified upon discovering this, that the day after she took the 'morning-after pill', a chilling euphemism for what is essentially a chemical abortion. She did not even know whether she was pregnant or not.

YET THIS IS THE ACTION ADVISED IN SCHOOLS ALL ACROSS THE UK.

"DO WHAT YOU LIKE, AND CONDOMS WILL PREVENT CONSEQUENCES. IF IN DOUBT, ABORT."

Because society had so conditioned this poor girl - a charming, friendly, good natured girl -into believing that condoms were a secure license to unconstrained sexual activity, she felt free to do as she pleased without any risks. Secondly, our quick-fix society then pressures her into abortion, explicitly telling young girls that they must abort THE VERY NEXT DAY, in effect giving them less than 24 hours to make an actual LIFE OR DEATH DECISION!

This is sickening!

Why can nobody see the cataclysmic folly of this kind of thinking?

Sorry, but the "morning-after" pill is not the same as RU-486.

The whole point of emergency contraception is to avoid having to decide whether to have a true abortion further down the line.

You have a better alternative, I take it?

More than likely, you're just another bullshitter, Augustine.

If the condom tore, they weren't using it properly.

Condoms DO work when used properly. Of course, no condom manufacturer has ever made the claim that it provides a 100% guarantee against infection or pregnancy -- they just say it will severely reduce the risk.

And what the girl did was wrong because......?

Chances are they didn't use their condom as they should.
In my experience I have used hundreds of condoms and I have never EVER had one get torn or one that failed.

1. No form of birth control is perfect, but it's better than unprotected sex. Waaaaay better. The only guaranteed way of not getting pregnant is abstinence, but if your Bible is any indication, that's not a sure fire way either.
2. The morning after pill only works 24 hours after sex. Nobody is pregnant at that time, because the egg hasn't implanted at that time. The morning after pill stops it from implanting, therefore it is not an abortion.
3. Apply "Why can nobody see the cataclysmic folly of this kind of thinking?" to your own religion.

You can tell this fucker doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about. Many times during a good fuck I have felt the condom start to tear. Simple fix pull out and change condoms. Fuck people like this are stupid.

Good thing no one ever said that condoms are 100% effective.

As for 'chemical abortion'...Ugh. S far from the truth it makes me queasy.

Bollocks! The reason you talk bollocks is because you are religious and believe in an invisible entity for which there is not the slightest piece of evidence. You expect people to treat what you say as though it came from the mind of someone who wasn't deluded?

How dare she be responsible and protect herself and her boyfriend from various diseases and infections while also avoiding bringing an unwanted, unloved child into a home which is clearly not ready for it.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

It's true. Condoms don't work 100% of the time. But 99.9% is pretty damn nice odds for good sex.

Nobody ever said condoms work 100% of the time. But the odds of getting pregnant or contracting an STD are still MUCH lower than they would be if you didn't use a condom.

That's like saying that, since wearing a seat belt doesn't completely guarantee your safety/survival 100% in the event of a traffic accident, you're better off just not wearing one at all.

EDIT: Damn, Drax beat me to the seat belt analogy.

complete and utter science fail. if she had to take the pill the very next day, it was probably Plan B, which can't cause abortions. progestin simply doesn't work that way; it can only prevent ovulation, not implantation or an actual abortion

Someone wrote here that the morning after pill only works for 24 hours. This is not true; it is most effective in the first 24 hours but can be effective for up to 72 hours.

Bullshit. Condoms are friggin strong. It wouldn't just fall apart unless it was like 50 years old.

Plan B (the morning after pill) works by preventing ovulation. No egg gets fertilized in the first place. It's no more an abortion than abstinence is.

Fertilized eggs are not babies. Hell, most likely it may not have even reached that stage yet when she took the pill.

If they had used the condom correctly, it wouldn't have broken during intercourse.

As for the rest of your insane and asinine rant, I suggest you go read a book on human reproduction, and the life cycle of a zygote.

YET THIS IS THE ACTION ADVISED IN SCHOOLS ALL ACROSS THE UK.

"DO WHAT YOU LIKE, AND CONDOMS WILL PREVENT CONSEQUENCES. IF IN DOUBT, ABORT."

Unless UK schools have changed drastically in the past 10 years, you're a fucking liar.

What was advised at my UK school was "try to be abstinent, but we know that's not going to be easy, so be prepared just in case". Furthermore, the fact that contraceptives are not 100% effective was very well covered.

Now, maybe if these kids had spent less time giggling in their PSE lessons and more time paying attention, they would have used the condom properly.
