Both cannot be true except in a conflicted mind, and even then both cannot be absolutely true. One of your aspects is delusional. Who taught you that the proper response to such behavior was hatred in the first place? Why didn't you just leave, or make it plain that you considered that behavior inappropriate? Was something lacking in your ability to be an active member in shaping your world? Who told you that you were a helpless sinner, worthless and weak, etc.? Why do you think this whole situation bothers you so much?

umm.. For me, homosexuality was never a temptation simply because its not a temptation. It's a sexual orientation.
That said it's no less normal than left handedness.
We dont persecute leftys anymore either.

It IS true that sexuality is, to some extent, an acquired taste. It is possible, given sufficient motivation, for anyone to learn to be sexually aroused by just about anything -- the same sex, the opposite sex, barn animals, furniture, you name it.
This is why the so-called "ex-gay" ministries are partially successful. A gay man can learn to be attracted to women. The problem is, he can't learn NOT to be attracted to men. Once a taste is acquired, you can't un-acquire it. These "ex-gay" ministries aren't turning gay men straight, they're turning gay men bisexual.
