Quote# 61546

as of 2001, the book of mormon has undergone nearly 4000 substantive changes. I can understand how one would have a hard time keeping up with what is actually true about the mormon faith.

In contrast, the Bible is God -breathed, Holy inspired and wholly true, without change. Perfect in its origin and intent. My prayers are for the people of the LDS religion to research their founder, Joseph Smith, a true prophet is known by his predictions and if they are wrong, time and again, then they are false predictions and he is a false prophet. (Apr. 23rd, 1824, 1832, 1844). You don’t need to follow a man who could never become his own god…only GOD is GOD!

"and wholly true"
Stars can't fall to Earth, the moon doesn't produce its own light, bats aren't birds, insects don't have 4 legs, ostriches are good parents, you can't see the entire Earth from a single mountaintop, etc.

"without change."
Which is why there are dozens of different versions of it?

"a true prophet is known by his predictions and if they are wrong, time and again, then they are false predictions and he is a false prophet."
Someone tell this guy how Jesus *repeatedly* claimed the world was going to end within the lifetime of his contemporaries...

The Babble is just as full of shit as the Book of Mormon... which, funny enough, abbreviates to B.M.

Book of Mormon... Bowel Movement... Same diff.

Erm, there has been several different translations in just the last millenium. Not to mention that it started as stories being told and retold for hundreds of years, if not thousands. I bet they didn't get it exactly the same from generation to generation. (Try the wispering game; wisper a sentence in someone's ear, let the sentence wander via about 10 people, and the result is something completely different than the original. And that's just one sentence. Imagine what would happen with the thousands of different stories that make up the OT.)

And, if it's perfect, how come there are so many contradictions?

the bible is stories stolen from other cultures, edited for content, and re-written as the men in power wanted it written so they could stay in power.

This guy probably checks his favorite verses in the KJV every now and then, and that's his source for the claim that it's "without change."

Well gee, Dana, how about one of the first, most substantive changes to the Bible? Why don't you open your Bible to Mark 16:8, and notice the little asterisk or footnote mark following this verse? Know why that is? Read the note and you'll be SHOCKED, I say, SHOCKED!

Yeah, perfect-except for all those monks over the centuries who had to write it out by hand and so cut out parts or added in parts as they pleased. Don't forget all the parts the church decided to cut out as well!

[as of 2001, the book of mormon has undergone nearly 4000 substantive changes.]

4000? Wow! That's amazing! You DO have a citation...don't you?

[I can understand how one would have a hard time keeping up with what is actually true about the mormon faith.]

Now take the next step...

[In contrast, the Bible is God -breathed, Holy inspired and wholly true, without change.]

Yep, the Bible has never been changed. Not once. Never. Not ever.

[Perfect in its origin and intent.]

Yet so flawed.

[a true prophet is known by his predictions and if they are wrong, time and again, then they are false predictions and he is a false prophet.]

So true...

Dana P, You do know that the King James version has 11 (eleven) fewer books than its predacessor?
You know that the bible was edited several times since its first compilation by the council of Nicea?
You do know the council of Nicea were a bunch of drunken peadophiles and crazy loons?

Right?????

That's because I rejected every fucking bit of scripture that they tried to shove down my throat.

"as of 2001, the book of mormon has undergone nearly 4000 substantive changes. I can understand how one would have a hard time keeping up with what is actually true about the mormon faith."

So, updating something to correct errors is a bad thing? I see. I'll be sure to notify the scientific community that all that research they're doing and articles they're writing is pointless.

"In contrast, the Bible is God -breathed, Holy inspired and wholly true, without change."

That's the problem, the fucking thing hasn't changed in 4,000 years while the real world has passed it the fuck by.

And if you think it's "wholly true" then point me to a four legged insect or any of the other outright absurd bullshit mentioned in it.

"Perfect in its origin and intent."

Yes. A perfect pile of shit.

"My prayers are for the people of the LDS religion to research their founder, Joseph Smith, a true prophet is known by his predictions and if they are wrong, time and again, then they are false predictions and he is a false prophet. (Apr. 23rd, 1824, 1832, 1844)."

I'd suggest you research the founder of your religion and see just how scant the evidence is that any such person ever existed.

Also, didn't you Jebus make a prophecy about returning before some in his audience had "tasted death"? Talk about a false prophet. It's 2,000 years later and you're still fucking waiting.

"You don’t need to follow a man who could never become his own god…only GOD is GOD!"

Then why do you worship Jebus? Oh, that's right. You've got that logic shattering, brain warping, fundy favorite The Trinity to explain that one.

So we have two books. One has been proved wrong, so its followers have changed the book to conform to reality. The other has been proved wrong, so its followers have changed reality to conform to the book.
