Forcing her to "do her marital duty" is *still* rape. God, these people are idiots! And it's even advocating abuse of the women who still say no!

It doesn't say a lot about your manhood that you have to take your women by force.

http://www.afghanbuzz.com/afgblog/2009/mullah-asef-mohseni-starve-wife-if-she-refuses-sex/
Extracts:
Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, who signed the law last month, has since put it under review.
But Mohseni said the law - which only applies to the 15 percent of Afghans who are Shi’a muslims - has been misinterpreted by critics.
Its sexual clauses aimed only to ensure men’s sexual needs were met within marriage, because Islam prohibited them seeking satisfaction with other women.
‘A man and wife can negotiate how often it is reasonable to sleep together, based on his sex drive, and a woman has a right to refuse if she has a good reason,’ said the bearded cleric.
'It should not be compulsory for the wife to say yes all the time, because some men have more sexual desires than others,’ he said, adding that husbands should never force themselves on their wives and the law does not sanction that.
Governments and rights groups around the world have condemned the legislation, and President Barack Obama has labeled it ‘abhorrent.’
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has remanded the law to the Justice Department for review and put enforcement on hold.
A host of Afghan intellectuals, politicians and even a number of Cabinet ministers have come out against the law.
Seems like Karzai just signed whatever was put in front of him without reading it. Its not being enforced and will probably be changed or deleted.

D Laurier.
And I am reminded of a tale from early islam.
Appearantly Mohamed was sitting under a tree one day when a delagation of men from the town came to him with a complaint. They told him their wives were not obeying the command to come to bed with their husbands.
Mohamed thought about this a moment, and replyed thusly: "you have messengers to send to your wives, Send them."
The men were confused and asked "what messengers?"
So Mohamed told them. "your messengers are sweet kisses, and gentle words of affection".
Appearantly Afghani legislators werent listening

A new Afghan law that has drawn Western condemnation for restricting women's rights does not allow marital rape as its critics claim, but lets men refuse to feed wives who deny them sex
Oh, well that's much better.

So, men have the right to refuse, but women don't?
Nice double standard.

Every so often, an ultra-conservative pushes a law that enforces the very behavior the concept of law was invented to prevent. And it always dumbfounds me.
When you start doing this stuff, why you don't just live in absolute lawlessness--it's the same thing minus the paperwork.

@#942027:
IMDD posters are youtube posters. Start a poll asking whether they would like to assfuck a dead seagull and they will say yes.
We need a reliable source for this and it seems this law has been put on hold till review, it will prolly be changed or thrown out completely

However, this reminds me of something I was reading lately about the Iraqi put in charge of weeding out corruption. Seems he took his job seriously and started making conneckons between govt. officials and billions of stolen U.S. dollars and had to come to the states. Then, when he testified to Congress about it he was kicked out of his translating job.
And the reason it reminds me of this is because, it's never fucking been about Democracy, or even democracy, or any of those platitudes. It's all been an exercise in enriching some, impoverishing others and killing a bunch of Afabs, or Muslims or whomever.
