[This is a pagan forum but texasdave is a Christian. He is explaining why Christianity is the true religion.]
The word " Lai" does mean come to Christ. The prophecies of Christ go back to the beginning of time itself. Before 220 BC. God probably orchestrated the Chinese language to facillitate the Gospel for this time now. You know, 3000 Chinese are coming to Christ every day through the underground church. It is wonderful and that word is helping. Praise God.

Wrong. So wrong.
He must be twelve.
The prophecies of Christ go back to the beginning of time itself.
Hmm. What time was it when time began?
God probably orchestrated the Chinese language to facillitate the Gospel for this time now
Probably? You think someone else might have done it?
You know, 3000 Chinese are coming to Christ every day through the underground church
I thought Christ was supposed to come to them, and quickly?
No, 'lai' means 'come here'. They use it to speak to dogs, small children and jaywalking foreigners. I should know, being one the latter. ^^
"The prophecies of Christ go back to the beginning of time itself. Before 220 BC. "
um.. nevermind that, according to the usual fundy claims, "the beginning of time" is around 6000 B.C...
"The prophecies of Christ" go back before Christ was born? o_O'
Chronological fail.
I asked my hubby, who is Chinese, about this, and he says you are so full of shit your eyes must be brown.
Why do we even need Christian missionaries anyway.
I mean, I'm sure most people have heard of Jesus by now, haven't they?
-The word " Lai" does mean come to Christ.
Words do not mean what you want it to mean; be it Chinese, English, or whatever language. Languages of the world are not centered on Christianity.
Don't be an idiot.

There is no Christianity at the beginning of time.
Don't be an idiot.

No, he did not. The Chinese should stay with the teachings of Buddhism, Confucius, and Lao Tzu instead; which are all much better than the plague of Christianity.
-You know, 3000 Chinese are coming to Christ every day through the underground church.
You might want to compare that to the number of Chinese babies being born every day first.
-It is wonderful and that word is helping.
No. Lai, meaning come, is just a regular word you encounter very often in Chinese.
Stupid.
texasdave claims these so called 'prophecies' include the Ten Commandments, the first five are 'vertical' and the last five are 'horizontal' so they make a cross apparantly.
And yes, he is banned later on the same thread for personal attacks. He also is incredibly arrogant, by assuming that all the pagans there follow Christianity secretly but they don't know it.
I'm sorry, but even if his post weren't so idiotic, I'd vote this one up for proselytizing on a pagan forum. If you can't play nice with Pagans, then leave us alone and go whine about your hellfire problem someplace else.
Even provisionally accepting the dubious conversion rate of 3,000 per day, given the Chinese rate of reproduction that'll never catch up with the actual population. To borrow the chip slogan, "Convert all you want; we'll make more."
Look, I may have some issues with popular Chinese religion (though, admittedly, as a Discordian Universalist it's my religious duty to have issues with all religious positions, including my own), but at least the major strains all seem to be basically concerned with being a decent person to other people (and/or animals), or, less formally, not being an asshole . That actually seems to be the uniting principle among the major Chinese religious traditions -- "Don't be an asshole." (Though, of course, a few traditions would add an asterisk -- with an addition of "unless by so being you have good reason to believe that you're preventing a larger assholishness somewhere down the line.")
Hell, even the imperial rulers of China knew that you couldn't keep a country that size together unless you could at least present yourself as not being a bunch of assholes. American theocrats seem to have missed that lesson.

3,000 Chinese come to Home Depot every day, too. So what the fuck? Praise Frank Blake?
"You know, 3000 Chinese are coming to Christ every day"
That's lovely. At that rate it'll only take you another 2000 years or so.
The Chinese language only exists to expedite conversion of Chinese people...
If that's true, why did Jesus hang around the Middle East?
Confused?
