"if I give some books (like Catholicism for Dummies) as a gift to someone who is not a believer yet, do they get harmed?"
No. Unless they become a catholic.

Books can't carry demons (they're very sensitive to paper cuts), but they can carry Protestant cooties. Who knows if your book might have rubbed against Luther's writings on the warehouse? Beware!

I was raised in a very Italian devout Roman Catholic family. I really don't remember all these worries about demons. We had the fear of God in us, but never demons. Is this something new in the Catholic church? I've been away for a long long time.
A little off topic, but I was just wondering:)

Cursing a book...... sounds like a cool idea for a Dungeons & Dragons spell!

Curses are delicate and do not travel well. Almost any form of shipment will weaken if not kill your average, garden variety curse.

The only harm they'll receive is you giving them a stupid gift that they'll never read.

I take Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, so I know I have nothing to fear... but if I give some books (like Catholicism for Dummies) as a gift to someone who is not a believer yet, do they get harmed?
Interesting - I've never before seen a fundie implicate their own denomination in putting harmful curses on people.

Okay, like I said in another comment, Catholic Answers doesn't seem to be about the same Catholicism I've always heard about (except as explained by conservative cardinals, I guess...) but this here takes the whole paranoia to an all-new level.

And now the rest of this exchange:
Alex Trebek: "Your answer, Scott?"
Jeopardy contestant: "I'm gonna say 'things insane people say.'"
Alex: "Correct for $800."

That's... not quite how an online virus works.
But this really makes me want to see how the occult-wary j2c99 would react to the Sesame Street classic The Monster at the End of This Book.

Brain_In_A_Jar : He's not saying that the discussion of Catholocism in Catholocism for Dummies might do the reader harmed, he's saying that he's worried that it might have picked up a curse from sitting next to occult books before it left the warehouse.
I wonder if he thinks the Vulgate Bible could be cursed in this manner....

Buy your books from me. I charge well above list, but at least I'll give you a written guarantee that they are free of demons. If you can provide actual physical evidence of a demon in any of my books, I'll give you a full refund.
