Quote# 60577

An unemployed truck driver seething over liberalism told police he opened fire in a church last year because it harbored gays and multiracial families and he hoped others would follow his example.

"They just glory (in) these weirdos and sickos and homos," he said in an interview recorded by investigators.

He also railed against the Unitarian Church: "That ain't a church, that's a damned cult," Adkisson said.

Adkisson walked into the church, pulled a sawed-off shotgun from a guitar case and fired into a congregation of about 230 people watching a children's musical performance.

Adkisson left a four-page suicide note in his SUV in the church parking lot. In it, he described the attack as "a hate crime,"

Adkisson concluded, "I'd like to encourage other like-minded people to do what I've done. If life ain't worth living anymore don't just kill yourself. Do something for your country before you go. Go kill liberals."

Catherine Murray, who was friends with the couple, told police Adkisson had drug and alcohol problems and "basically was afraid of anybody or anything that was not like him."

I just love to think how the Conservatives are tearing themselves apart. It seems like they can't go two days without a sex scandal or some other giant hypocrisy.

With any luck they will just implode into a tiny pocket of hatred and ignorance and leave the rest of us alone.

"basically was afraid of anybody or anything that was not like him."

Basically this murderous pathetic sack of shite was admitting his inferiority to anyone with a brain and a conscience.

so much hate.

I'm not sure if it's fundie or just pathetic evil, but the fundie end of the spectrum informed his actions, and influenced his behaviour with respect to people unlike him, sothey must bear some of the blame.

The one thing common in liberal discourse is that there is no "other", that everyone is equal in their humanity, and if you degrade this you open yourself to the danger of dehumanising others.

"Shortly after a woman caller told dispatchers of the attack, a man calling from the church reported that worshipers had disarmed the attacker and weren't about to let him go.

"They may beat him to death, but they've got him," the caller said."

Haha! That was the best part!

Sounds like the typical Fundi.

Killing people for being different is evil.
Killing yourself because you don't have the spine to face the consequences of your evil is craven. And, I would say, an admission that you knew what you were doing was wrong.

So he's an evil coward.

Anyone ever notice that these shooting sprees always hapen in places where all the people think the more guns the more safe. These idiots are arming themselves even further these days fearing barack and his negro army. I think now a days its safe to say criminals who kill people live in inner-cities, and the psycho rambo types all live in the burbs or the boondocks

So...this guy walked into a church...with a sawed-off shotgun...opens fire at random on a group of total strangers...

...and it's the liberals that are the problem????

Another news report I heard about this said this guy had said he read the Republican hate book "The 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America", and went off to kill these people because he couldn't get to the ones listed in the book. The Republican media hate-machine really can pat itself on the back fo this one. Hannity would be so proud.

Christian Fundies like respond to claims that they're similar to the radical Muslims by saying "WE don't commit any terrorist attacks and kill people who are different from us!"

The last set of statistics I saw related to guns use was that only 2% of use was for personal protection. The vast majority was little Johnny blowing his playmate's head off, or Uncle Joe getting suicidal, a domestic argument excalating, someone going postal, a gun stolen and subsequently used in a crime or something else.

Except for the bit where he managed to kill two people and wound several others. While there's no doubt that he lost, it's not really a win either, is it?

"That ain't a church, that's a damned cult"

Yes. A cult of NOT gunning down children in cold blood. Where will it end?

Worse than fundy, pure psychotic evil. Fundyism absolutely fed this guy pro-active hatred and made him worse than what he was, but he ultimately pulled the trigger.
