Darwin gave atheists the “beginning” they needed to rid themselves of God.
Nonsense!
There were a lot of atheists before Darwin, there have been atheists for thousands of years, you imbecile!

Again, manmade instruments cannot evolve because they don't reproduce. How is this a hard concept for you people?

Yes, that's why evolution has changed in order to get where it is today, also we have more understanding of cells than you give us credit for. Also you fail at gravity.

That whole thread is a goldmine.
Look at how all the somewhat sane responses have been deleted and only appear in quotes.

As it turns out, a single cell is so incredibly complex that scientists have only a remote understanding of its inner workings.
As it turns out? What the hell? Do you really think that you can make up reality as you go along?

Believing that an intelligent being created humans from nothing is like believing that humans spontaneously invented watches without previously clocks and sundials.

"Darwin also was wise enough to realize that if a cell were more complex that simple protoplasm his theory would never hold up."
Huh? What does that have to do with anything?

Well, as has already been pointed out, there have been atheists for millenia before Darwin. Besides that all he did was describe what he was seeing and then provide a possible explanation for it. As we've tested and examined his ideas we've found some to be well supported and others not so much. It's not surprising he didn't get everything right, given what he didn't know that we've learned over the last 150 years.
I think cell biologists would beg to differ on your complexity statement, not that it's not complex, but they spend their lives learning and discovering how the cell works, they know a hell of a lot more than you think. Just because it's too complex for you doesn't mean it's too complex for everyone.
The watch example is fucking stupid and your allies have already recommended not trying to pass that one off as a good argument anymore, if I recall.

Nothing is more ridiculous than your understanding of evolution. You are unable to imagine anything slightly more complex than fairy tales with their dubious morality. In short, you're uneducated and unintelligent and probably apathetic about the natural universe.

Actually, we do understand how a cell works and if you bothered to pick up a freaking book, you would too. Also, 'just look at it, wow, god is da kewl' is not evidence.

actually you are spouting shit. the first atheist was Diagoras of Helios around 5th century BCE. Athiesm is bugger all to do with just evolution you clown, it is about the non existance of god
you really must learn to research more!!!

The theory of non-creationism had also been around for centuries before Darwin. One Greek philosopher even suggested we came from water.

Yeah, because Aristotle and all those Islamic naturalists from way before Darwin - not to mention the Asian ones - that did indeed have an inkling on what today we know as evolution didn't exist, right?

I always chuckle at the irony of how religious headcases whose dogmas rule with an iron fist, can congregate to a site called "Free Republic".

Observable Reality
Cells are both very small and incredibly complex. For most of human history, we simply didn't have the tools to investigate them very well. But in the modern era, we do have those tools, and our knowledge of microbiology has increased exponentially. To say that we only have a remote understanding of cells makes it sound like the last biology book you cracked open was published around 1809--assuming, of course, that you ever looked at a biology book.
