many people also have talked about the suns radiation gradually mutating us throughout time...then why does our bodies create pigmentation (sun tan) to stop the suns radiation from damaging us? darker skinned peoples where the radiation is higher (eg africa)...if radiation helps us to evolve...then why does our bodies fight against it??

Because the radiation from the sun also causes melanoma and sunburns that might affect just slightly the survival rate of the species? Just a little?

Some tribes are immune to polio, they are infected with it yet have no resistance to the common cold.
Other regions people are immune from malaria, yet thier ability to cope with that maladay also makes them vunerable to the AIDS virus.
If we do not evolve we go into extinction very quickly.
