Quote# 54386

It's funny how Atheists and hardcore left liberals tout that there should be a seperation of church and state, and yet, they still take the day off. Frankly, if they are so strong in their beliefs that church and state should be seperate, then they should show up to work on those holidays they hate so much.

Holidays such as:

Independence Day: for all the people who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution, and for those who hate America, especially Michelle Obamanation, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.

Veterans Day: For all those who hate or disrespect the military, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.

Thanksgiving: For all those who do not understand or generally denounce the pilgrims faith in God, and the thanks they gave to God for sparing their lives that dreadful winter, those people should be required to work, without holiday pay.

Christmas: All atheists, non-believers and haters of Christianity and Judeo-Christian beliefs should act on their beliefs and ignore the holiday, working a full day without Holiday Pay!

I volunteered to work on Xmas, covering the shift of my colleague who wants to be with her family. I'm getting paid double time for it, because that's how my company does it. I'll give the extra money to charity. That good enough for you? I couldn't care less about Christmas.

Put the shoe on the other foot. YOU get off on YOUR lousy Christian holidays, but there is no law that actually forces you to emulate your Savior, is there? Its not like anyone forces you to go to church or anything. You probably spend the holidays lounging around your living room watching professional sports while the womenfolk prepare food*. Maybe allowing you the day off should require you to stop acting like a dick all the time, you know, and become a little more Christ-like.

I am an atheist. I love my job. I'm happy working every day. You religious holiday-worship types are the lazy ones who need time off. You can have it. And while you are praying to Jebus in your little tax-free building, I'll be busy winning your next promotion**.

E to the G

[*Assuming you are not a woman. If you are, what exactly is it you love about the holidays anyway?
**Not literally, NLIO...after all, I don't hope to one day be the head broom-boy at Subway]

862063: It's a combination of "Obama" and "abomination"... basically, a fundie's failed attempt at sounding clever.

My husband and I work through most holidays. So do theatre employees, retail persons, police officers, military, some sport's players, firefighters, etc. etc. etc.

The reason all of us people work is because consumers such as yourself want businesses open on your precious holy (pagan) days.

I thought you Conservatives wanted LESS government regulation of employers, not more.

Independence Day is not a religious holiday.

Veterans Day is not a religious holiday.

Thanksgiving Day is not a religious holiday.

Christmas Day was stolen by christians from the pagans.

Sorry, you fail.

Ok, most of what I wanted to say has been said, but let me add:

The one time I wanted to take a "non christian" holiday off I had to use vacation time and only was approved for half a day - at a desk job. (But at least I got out of being sent to Texas at the last minute because I asked for the day off before that plant screwed up.)

I've also had seniority pulled on me as I was scheduled to work christmas one year in high school and the other woman wanted the holiday pay. Dude fails on so many levels it isn't even funny. We should have a special award for this nonsense.

Or, I can continue to spend christmas with my family, celebrating as we have always done, with no mention of god or christianity to spoil our day

It's funny how Atheists and hardcore left liberals tout that there should be a seperation of church and state, and yet, they still take the day off.
Kinda hard not to, for starters...most of civilized society shuts downon statutory holidays.

Frankly, if they are so strong in their beliefs that church and state should be seperate, then they should show up to work on those holidays they hate so much.
Who said anything about hating the holidays? I enjoy a day off to spend with my loved ones just as much as the next person. If my company's giving me the time off, that's fine by me.

Holidays such as:

Independence Day: for all the people who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution, and for those who hate America, especially Michelle Obamanation, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.

Huh. Wasn't aware that Jesus founded the U.S. Must've borrowed Dad's time machine. And dismantle, reinterpret, etc. the Constitution? Care to talk about Proposition 8, or does that little dig only count if you don't agree with the revision? Finally, how does Michelle Obama garner an "especially" here? Women should remain quiet and subservient, unless they're taking potshots at moose from a helicopter, like a good Bible Barbie...?

Veterans Day: For all those who hate or disrespect the military, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.
Oh, like you guys screeching about how the gays and the atheists, and the women, and the Muslims should be removed from their duty, as they're unfit to serve their country (While you remain in the comfort of your armchair, no less.) Would...ah...that constitute as disrespect for the military?

Thanksgiving: For all those who do not understand or generally denounce the pilgrims faith in God, and the thanks they gave to God for sparing their lives that dreadful winter, those people should be required to work, without holiday pay.
No, actually it was those heathen Indians that helped them survive that winter. If it was God, I'd imagine there wouldn't have BEEN a "dreadful winter," now would there? And I fail to see how that's a religious holiday as well.

Christmas: All atheists, non-believers and haters of Christianity and Judeo-Christian beliefs should act on their beliefs and ignore the holiday, working a full day without Holiday Pay!
Yes, I will beg my boss to let me work that day, and break the law, paying me normal rate. And any excuse for me to see my family, and give presents to make them happy is a good thing by my books.

I agree that for Veterans Day the only people who get the day off should be veterans... but everything else is way off into WTF field.

I tell you what, you keep the 'Christian' holidays that were founded by Christians and not ripped off from pagans and we'll take all the rest. Dumbass.

"Independence Day: for all the fundies and rabid right-wingers who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution (except for the Second Amendment), and for those who hate America and Michelle Obama, they should be required to work, without holiday pay."

There. Fixed.

1. Independence Day: I love fireworks, and I love my country. Why should I not celebrate the day of my country's birth?

2. Veterans Day: I actually have respect for the military, so I don't want to see them dying needlessly. I do think that they should be the only ones to get the day off, though. It's VETERAN'S Day.

3. Thanksgiving: I don't like turkey. But I do like kugelis! So I'm going to eat Thanksgiving dinner! Besides, my school is closed on Thanksgiving anyway.

4. I fucking love presents, so shut the fuck up.

" Obamanation"

WTF does this mean anyway? Who started it, because its fucking annoying.

I believe it's a corruption of "Obama" and "abomination". It was no doubt started by someone who thinks he's making some kind of relevant point and terribly clever for doing so, and I very much doubt there's anything else anyone would care to know about a person like that.

I'm not sure how it works in the USA, but here there are standard stat days that you do not have to work. If you choose to work you get compensated, some are 'religious' holidays like say Easter, some are not like Waitangi Day. If you want, you can arrange with your employer to 'trade' the standard religious holidays for ones of your religion. Eg. a friend of mine gets a paid day off for Samhain, but doesn't get paid for Christmas Day (they are closed so she can't work it).

So basically everyone has the same number of paid days off. Seems fair to me.

Bullshit! You, idiotic asshole(and your ignorant Nazi friends at Free Con) should never be allowed off on Independence Day until you take a test proving that you have ever even READ the fucking US Constitution. None of you fucking free-con clowns have a clue about what is in that document, otherwise you would not misquote it, or make up bullshit and claim it's in there. Since I figure the average free-conner follows the lead of their Republican chickenhawk heroes, I would wager money not a damn one of you served, but I'm sure you all have "The Bravery that comes from Being out of Range" and are more than willing to encourage someone else to get shot at in a war to protect your sweet ass at home. But you know this is all irrelevant, you are free-conners, you'll nevewr get a paid holiday. You would have to move out of mom and dad's basement and get a real job to have a holiday.

I do work on Veterans Day, without a pay increase.

Sounds like fundies will be doing a lot of working on holidays under these plans.
