Riiight, considering Thanksgiving isn't about god its about discovering this land so no big deal, mirror mirror to independence day, and xmas day has nothing to do with christianity...never really did to begin with despite it stealing the holiday away from the pagans.

Fine, I will work on Christmas without holiday pay, but I get holiday pay for the OTHER 11 days of Yule, I get Beltaine, both Solstices and both Equinoxes (sp?) off. I can trade you Thanksgiving and Christmas for those.
Since I am in the Military, I will keep Independence Day and Veterans Day, as well as Memorial Day.

1. I work on Independence Day with regular pay.
2. I work on Veterans Day with regular pay.
3. My place of employment is closed on Thanksgiving, and it's counted as my day off.
4. My place of employment is closed on Christmas, and it's counted as my day off.

How do you go from complaining about seperation of church and state to forced labor? Anyway, I couldn't work on days like Christmas if I wanted to. I work for a business that is closed...completely. Do you propose having the government force them to stay opened so I can work (in all likelihood, forcing Christians to work too since I'm not going to be allowed alone in the building) or should I just be carted off and forced to work somewhere else for a handful of days a year?

Samhain, Beltane, Lugnasad, Imbolc, solstices and equinoxes.
Veterans' day, Memorial day, D-Day, Pearl Harbor day, San Jacinto day, VJ day, Independence Day.
Presidents Day.
Groundhog day, Blackbeard's wedding anniversary, Cinco de Mayo,4-20.
Who cares about your recycled, regurgitated wrong-date birthday?

Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving are NOT Christian holidays. You don't have to be Christian to respect the hardships of the Pilgrims (but not their later genocide of the Pequot and Narragansett tribes), the struggles of the Founding Fathers, or the hard work our veterans have done.
And we Pagans have a celebration 3 days before Christmas. It's called Yule. We have every right to celebrate it. YOU took it from US. Learn to history.
NLIO must just want Christians to have the monopoly on fun parties, or something. Not gonna happen.

What are you supposed to do if your workplace is closed on the holiday, like most are? Camp out on their doorstep? Didn't think this one through, did ya?

For people who harp about stolen and hijacked holidays, you have no problem celebrating ones jacked from the Pagans...

It's not us touting separation of church and state, it's the U. S. Constitution. But I guess there's no reason for you to know that. Your big holidays, Christmas and Easter are of Pagan origin. The godly Pilgrims quickly established one of the most despicable systems of religious intolerance ever seen on this continent. As to Fourth of July and Veterans Day, I'm an atheist who insists on celebrating them I'm also a veteran. You?

Independence Day: I've worked it. Not because I hate the founding fathers or the country or whatever, but because I had to in order to keep my job.
Veterans Day: We don't get this day off either. I don't think most people do.
Thanksgiving: If you can find a place open on this holiday.
Christmas: I know people who work it, including Jews, you know, the people who contribute the "Judeo" part of your beliefs?
What is it with you and your "without holiday pay"? You do realize no one who works those holidays is going to turn down the holiday pay because they work the crappy, low paying jobs? Yay, lets contribute more to the poverty of minimum wage earners!!
Jackass.

Or, members of all religions could just keep their holidays to themselves and none of us will take religious holidays or holiday pay for working on a religious holiday. That sounds quite fair to me.

"Frankly, if they are so strong in their beliefs that church and state should be seperate, then they should show up to work on those holidays they hate so much."
Do YOU work on Christmas, loudmouth?
"Independence Day: for all the people who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution, and for those who hate America, especially Michelle Obamanation, they should be required to work, without holiday pay."
"Dismantling the Constitution" is exactly what you neocons have done the past eight years. Patriot Act ring a bell, bitch?
"Veterans Day: For all those who hate or disrespect the military, they should be required to work, without holiday pay."
I don't know anyone who "hates or disrespects the military." Many nontheists have served proudly in the military. (Jesse Ventura is a well-known example.) But how does one's view of the military relate to one's religious views?
"... those people should be required to work, without holiday pay."
On three separate occasions you express a desire to "require" people to work if they hold different views than yours. Sounds like you would have done well operating a "re-education facility" in Siberia during the Stalinist days. Is this very "conservative?"
"Christmas: All atheists, non-believers and haters of Christianity and Judeo-Christian beliefs should act on their beliefs and ignore the holiday, working a full day without Holiday Pay!"
There are actually more than a few Christians (mainly fundy wackos such as yourself) who don't celebrate Christmas. There's a fundy preacher in upstate NY who gets on the radio every year on Christmas night and just lambastes Christmas at the absolute top of his lungs for being supposedly "pagan." He's a delusional wacko, but he knows more about the origins of Christmas then you do. You should learn a little bit about religious history before you spout off.

I'm generally a pretty calm person, I think, but I just want to reach out and throttle this fucker until he's blue, and then beat him a bat until he bleeds out his eyes. But that's just me, though. For the record, you dumb fuck, atheists and non-christians are generally more patriotic, and christians stole christmas from the pagans, as well as the rest of their religion. So get over yourself and STFU.

1. Unlike NLIO, I love America and value its Constitution.
2. I don't hate or disrespect the military; however, I oppose one of the wars they are entangled in.
3. At our house, we thank the cook, the hostess, and the guests.
4. Why, so *you* can go to the movies, get tech support for your gifts, and eat Chinese food? Fuck off!
PS--By definition, the First Lady as well as the President always works on Independence Day. They have to plan and participate in observances. And I hope you faint when you see the Obamas working in this capacity.

Fucking arbitrary criteria to decide what each holiday stands for. This reads are pretty damn un-constitutional, very un-Christian and certainly against what the nations military have fought for.
Therefore, "NonLiberalInOregon" from this point onwards you have no remaining holidays.
For massive logic failure, you also forfeit your salary.

ok.It's a deal...you quit celebrating the indepentant free birth of My country and I wont do yours.
I am a veteran and as such I still have never gotten that day off for over 30 years.
I give thanks for all My people did to make sure yours did not starve during that winter.( though I do wonder why at times, all you did was commit atrocities against them after that).
I am Pagan I celebrate all 12 days of Yule as it is , so I should get those days all off ...with pay...
Sorry everyone else I am in a mood this time of year. A very Blessed Holiday for all of you.

Independence Day: for all the people who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution, and for those who hate America, especially Michelle Obamanation, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.
Shiny, shiny mirror.
Veterans Day: For all those who hate or disrespect the military, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.
Well, that certainly makes Veterans' Day a Christian holiday. Are you saying that the military is somehow unique to the religion of the Prince of Peace?
Thanksgiving: For all those who do not understand or generally denounce the pilgrims faith in God, and the thanks they gave to God for sparing their lives that dreadful winter, those people should be required to work, without holiday pay.
The Pilgrims outlawed Christmas. Still want to use that example?
Christmas: All atheists, non-believers and haters of Christianity and Judeo-Christian beliefs should act on their beliefs and ignore the holiday, working a full day without Holiday Pay!
As should all Christians, monotheists, and haters of the pagan religions that gave us our solstice celebration.
