Friends, this is why America has the Bill of Rights: to keep the Christian fundies in this land from establishing the kind of theocracy that the Middle East is now "enjoying." They just haven't teetered over the fundamentalist precipice like the Muslims of the Taliban. The Christian potential to do so is just as great as Islam has already done.

Exactly. They're not any more "savage" or "fucking psycho" than our own American breed of fundie (which is too say, quite psycho, but still). The only difference is, as Marcus suggests, that here we have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights that (ideally) keeps their religious views from being written into law. People in Afghanistan are not so lucky.

I feel for them, I really do. But this is what religion does; kids, this is your brain on religion.
