Quote# 51651

"it's surprising the number of people who still believe that if seems to be good for the country, it must be right. This is true even among believers. According to recent Barna polls, 48% of those likely to vote in the coming election are born again Christians. That means they claim to have made a personal commitment to Jesus and believe they will go to heaven because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. These same polls show that nearly half of them will vote for the candidate they think has the best plan for restoring America's reputation in the world and managing the economic battles that lie ahead, rather than the one who they think will best uphold the Biblical principles they believe. So if only half the voters are believers, and half of them plan to use worldly standards in making their choice rather than Biblical ones, it follows that only 1 in every 4 voters will be exercising any spiritual discernment at all in casting their vote.

The other 3 are using standards like peace, financial security, tolerance, choice, and so on as their guidelines. They don't realize that only God can restore peace and security to their lives, and tolerance and choice are just nice sounding words that really stand for rebellion against Him. By not considering His standards in casting their vote, they're guaranteeing that He won't be helping them get what they want. "

That's lazy. Go pray to your imaginary friend and let the adults handle the nation's problems.

Right. I'll take my spiritual and political advice from someone who knows how to spell his own last name, thanks.

So in other words those heathens are using their own brains to make their own decisions. Those bastards! How dare they. If they were smart they would base their whole life on a silly fairytale written by bronze age goat herders.

I suppose 100% of all those black baptist folk who claim being born again are not?

Seems the born again is really a whitey thingy no?

Oh I forgot, they are not Real Christians(tm)

I am soooo glad the Haggee flavored christianity is seeing it's ass as they really are not racist - no really they are not - just ask any retard on RR.

BTW did I mention there is no rapture?

"They don't realize that only God can restore peace and security to their lives..."

Your despair and fatalism are NOT warranted.

"only 1 in every 4 voters will be exercising any spiritual discernment at all in casting their vote."

If we could get it down to 1 in 10 we might have a chance of fixing the country.

Doesn't your book tell you to stay the fuck out of worldly affairs and yet you go against your God's wishes and partake of the voting system. Oh wait, I forgot. You RR cheerypickers only really take to heart the versus that talk about how bad anyone who isn't a borg Christian like yourselves are and the end of the world. Nevermind then... Carry on, douchebag.

Actually, I think Jesus would probably vote for a candidate who WAS on the side of pease, financial security, tolerance, choice and so one. You really should read up on your Savior before you put words into his mouth.

exactly.

Jesus was very very socialist almost marxist.

I think if these people met him they'd burn him at the stake as a commie.

and choice

Can't argue with that. Not that you didn't have a choice to believe in/follow God in the first place.

Oh, a Barna poll... well then, that's not biased at all! *roll eyes*

And redefining "tolerance" to suit your personal taste doesn't change what it really means.

What kind of evil person can take virtues like peace, security, tolerance and choice and turn them into bad things?

And also, this piece of filth from the same article, which goes completely against the principles which these morons claim to believe in:

"Depending on the victor, we could see the last traces of the Judeo-Christian principles that have guided us in the past disappear. Restraints on behavior that God is clearly against could be removed, and prohibitions against behavior that God desires could be imposed . Parents may no longer have the ultimate say in raising or educating their children. The relationship between effort and reward could become unrecognizable. Those with the greatest ability could wind up supporting those with the greatest need. In the name of peace we could make self defense impossible. The list goes on."

Really? The Judeo Xtian principles tell you that their is a relationship between effort and reward? Or, is it somehow unbiblical that those with the greatest ability could wind up supporting those with the greatest need? Ummm, I kinda thought that the least coming before those with the most WAS BIBLICAL, according to Jebus, who you purportedly follow? These people are hypocrites of the highest order, are DISGUSTING human beings, and are selfish and self-serving losers. If this is what it means to be a xtian, that does not say much....

Secular issues = politics. Biblical issues = religion. Believing Biblical issues are real or important = delusion.

only God can restore peace and security to their lives

God can cure diseases, too. But He doesn't. By Jack's reasoning, we should stop medical research and just pray for Him to fix us, instead of helping ourselves.

Why in the fuck would Jesus need to vote if he's the creator of the universe? All those Christians voted for Obama because they actually try to follow the teachings of Christ, unlike you racist, hate-mongering bastards.

i just realized these people don't see a difference between the republican party and god. it's funny considering jesus would have been considered a socialist.

Once again, you make your God sound like an asshole that only cares for people to adore him.

These same polls show that nearly half of them will vote for the candidate they think has the best plan for restoring America's reputation in the world and managing the economic battles that lie ahead,

That sound completely logical to me. WTF do the majority vote for then?

Edit: OK, 'nearly half' could mean 'just more than half' but somehow I don't think that's what the OP meant.
