Going a little over a day without eating. Big whoop. Mary Worth does more to help third-world nations.

Um...OK. Do you want a cookie? Bragging about how good you are kind of invalidates it according to the Bible.

Another fundie word-redefinition.
Famine (noun):
A severe shortage of food (as through crop failure) resulting in violent hunger, starvation and death.
Fast (noun):
A voluntary abstention from food, of fixed duration, for religious or medical reasons.

Well, you could try to go for two months without eating.
If god loves you, he will send manna.
Have faith, and hey, if it doesn't work out, you'll get to see God all the sooner.

I think it's OK as long as you stop sending missionaries who tell the locals condoms cause AIDS.

I can do better: a 60-hour plague of locusts.
Think of all the locust paste! Now *that* is Manna.

I think personally the effort is commendable. I may not agree with your religious ideas but you seem to have your heart in the right place.

Not fundie, we used to have those at my high school.
Kind of dumb to brag about it like it's a big deal though.

Torquemada
You know, I am really getting tired of seeing quotes like this bashed as "fundie" on this site. When I first discovered FSTDT, I thought it was a great (and, frankly, hilarious) concept and liked the idea of having a "watch dog" prowling the internet for religious bigotry and ignorance. Anyone who knows me knows that I am no friend of religious fundamentalism. However, this does not mean that I am no friend of religion in general. It saddens me to see that this site has now gotten to the point where just about anything that proceeds out of a Christian's mouth can be showcased and mocked. What the hell is so "fundie" about an effort to help children in Africa - whatever the means employed? You don't like their famine idea? Fine. Get off your creampuff asses and put together your own charity project. Where do you get off sitting in front of your computers pissing on other people's attempts at charity? I am frankly ashamed of this site, because in the final estimate, it has become every bit as "fundie" and bigoted as the religious groups it seeks to criticize.

I believe it's Fundie because he's ego-swelling over a fund raiser.
But not everyone here's reasonable, I know.

He may be ego-swelling over the fundraiser, or he may simply be asking for input. I can't get the original post to load, so I have no way of knowing. Either way, it is in very poor taste to deride any charitable effort. Even if it happens to be swelling the ego of one of the people involved, at the end of the day, African children get a comfortable bed and a warm meal. That's not something I would be complaining about.

I think it's a good idea, but no need to make a point of it

It's seriously NOT fundie and I'm glad someone is doing it, even if he's kinda going out of his way to make a point of it.
So I'm curious...why the name of all that's holy is this here?
