Quote# 48440

I've met many Wiccans in recent years. Unfortunately, one of my sisters turned from Christ and became one some time ago. It seems to be a nice, easy, no-accountability religion where trees and fairies are held in high regard and Mother Earth is a god. Simply put--it's death.

The Goddess is not interested in foreskins...or male chauvinism...or rape or genocide or stupid threats or false promises.

No accountability? JY11 clearly never bothered to learn about Wicca.

And despite the environmentalist trend recently, it's still not easy being green.

Mother Teresa was a douchebag.

She believed that suffering brought you closer to God. Her "hospitals" were veritable SHRINES to suffering.

Gee, no-accountability religion?? NO-accountability RELIGION??? This from a group of cultists who regularly claim that Dahmer and Hitler will be in heaven if at the very last minute they are "saved" inspite of their despicable behavior and crimes against humanity, but Ghandi and the Dalai Lama will go to hell inspite of their great love of humanity, charity, and great inspiration to their fellow man because they don't snag the "saved, get out of hell free card" that fundies are so fond of. You dolts make Christianity a "no-accountability religion" with that crap.

Post from the same thread:
"I knew someone who was into Wicca once. Told her I'd believe it if she could twitch her nose like Samantha (Bewitched) and have what she asked for appear instantly.

Needless to say she's probably still trying."

Whenever I try something similar with a Christian, I always get excuses as to why God can't or won't do as I ask in order to prove himself to me. Hypocrite.

Because God forbid other people have different beliefs that don't hurt anyone. Personally, I think that a pro-environmental, pro-tolerance religion sounds cool and I'm Christian.

"The Children's Ritual is only the beginning for the youthful amongst us. An entire children's program is in the works this year, as well as activities for the teens among us. And don't forget the bouncy-castle!"

"Children's ritual. I don't even want to know what happens in that."-FrankByMe

Apparently it has something to do with a bouncy-castle. THE HORROR..

No accountability? We have something called the Rule of 3. We like the sustaining nature of, well, Nature. We like it's beauty and respect it's ferocity. Goddess would be the term to use when speaking about females(like Mother?). Not many of you try to find out anything about faiths other than your own. Did you bother to ask your friend why she left Christianity?
another point of 'no accountability' you guys blame the work of Satan whenever something happens that you believe is bad.
"Satan made me do it yadayadayada"

I read the thread and the ignorance (as usual) is staggering. Depraved? Bible = Murder(condones the killing of children), mayhem, rape, etc. Oh puhleeeeez. But keep reading fstdt and come on over to the other side!

I love how that last sentence so appropriately follows everything leading up to it. After all, what's the first synonym that pops in your head when thinking of fairies, Mother Earth, and trees? Why, death, of course!

It's kind of like writing, "the 1957 Edsel, manufactured by the Ford Company, satisfied Americans' desires for large, powerful cars that fit the aesthetics of the time. Simply put--it's death" or "the huge solanum family of plants encompasses species from apples to eggplants to potatoes. The latter were first cultivated in western South America beginning around the 3rd millenium, B.C., and made their way to Europe during the Age of Exploration. Simply put--it's death."

See, the problem I have is I've been religiously bashed by just as many "fundie" Wiccans as standard Fundies, but that aside one should at least understand the other religion before calling it "no accountability" - sounds a lot more like being a christian where I can accept the Christ on my deathbed and get away with everything than one with something energetically like the golden rule.

So, this fundie fails, but I wouldn't mind some diversity in the fundism either.
