Quote# 48171
(discussing Dakota Fanning's new movie "Hounddog", which contains a scene of her being raped. In case you don't know, she was 12 years old when it was filmed.)
This is the left's way of making pedophelia seem "normal". They did the same thing with homosexuality and look at it now. It's accepted as normal and anyone who disagrees is labeled a biggot. Mark my word, Hollywood will be making more and more movies like this and each one will make it seem completely normal for adults to have sex with children. My own state of VA elected author Jim Webb, who writes explicit sex scenes between children and adults in his books, to the senate. And Webb actually defends these disgusting scenes! We are daily becoming more and more like Sodom and Gomorrah in this country. It saddens me that this country I love has CHOSEN to fall so far from God.

She was RAPED, you know, against her will. Sorry, I think you didn´t get the message of the movie.

I thought that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because the inhabitants were deemed "inhospitable".
Rationalizing the irrational is the fundie's way of life.

In fundieland, depiction == endorsement. No exceptions. Except the bible.

While unsettling, you know 12 year olds get raped in the real world. Hollywood certainly doesn't tell these stories to promote such activity, religion however seems to spend a lot of time making excuses for rape. Many Christians use Biblical excuses for incest IN COURT
The "normal" you're complaining about being depicted by Hollywood is the REAL WORLD. We know you like to ignore it but here it is. Hollywood has brought more injustice to light then Christianity, in fact it's the target of Fundies for that reason as many movies have told of real life Christian atrocities.

Jesus impregnated his mother with himself when she was about 12. This movie just demonstrates the will of the LORD.

"This is the left's way of making pedophelia seem "normal"."
And those 'child beauty contests'* in the Bible Belt are the Religious Right's way of making paedophilia seem "normal".
Amirite?

Has it occurred to you that said rape scene does not in any way glorify the action and leaves Fanning's character traumatized? I didn't think so.

What? I thought the 1950s was your dream? You know, when rape was legal? And how about in Biblical times when men married multiple women, some younger than 12?
