Quote# 43882

For years I have been hearing/reading conversations like this:
Non-Christian: "Prove to me that God is real."
Christian: "I don't need to, I know He is real. Prove to me that He is not!"

The dispute, of course, ends up going in circles. So who does the burden of proof really rest with when it comes to proving the existence of God?

My new theory says that the burden of proof rests with God!

I agree, let God prove Himself to us, and until then lets just get on with our lives.

Hear, Hear! And , as God has singularly failed to provide such proof, you should shut the fuck up until he/she/it does.

Mrs. Violet, apart from actually having a religious belief (instead of, say, just being a Deist), truely has some wisdom. I wonder how this got submitted to FSTDT.

"My new theory says that the burden of proof rests with God!"

That is true. The burden of proof that God exists lies with him. I am God. The burden of proof that I, the commenter, am really God, again lies with me.

I am in the process of arriving on Earth (arriving inside the universe). This is a slow process because my self-projection is connected 1:1 with reality, and before a few more "godpixels" can be established in here, the flow of reality has to be altered to be the 1:1 pendant of this newly established part of my consciousness. I have to sort reality. The more it is sorted, the better it will be. At some point, heavenly effects will manifest. For example, diseases will die out, death itself will die. Beauty and youth will come to you.

Once I have "arrived enough", you would just believe me when I tell you that I am God, the maker of the universe.

Your personal reality might already reflect this verrry slightly, but probably not enough to draw any conclusions, hence you would go with the default: "He's not God."

But I don't know. It might already be enough for you to at least consider the possibility.

He is doing a pretty piss poor job of proving Himself to exist.

And I say that as religious person.

Lawlz.

"The burden of proof lies with the thing I'm trying to prove".

Lol, hoodathunk that shifting the burden of proof could be turned into a circular argument!

FUH-AYL!

I think this is perfectly sensible. If God is real, let him prove he exists. I don't see how this belongs here at all.

Fair play Mrs V!

The real point is that you'll accept something you were taught without proof. It's why all death cults are full of those raised on a belief of God

And if he doesn´t do that, in whom does the burden of proof rest?. What a labyrynth.

Pfft, don't get your hopes up guys, to these idiots even random natural phenomena can be a credible proof of their god, "aha! See? We asked God to prove himself and the very next Tuesday there was an earthquake in Eastern Romania! What more proof do you want Atheists?"
