I've never seen a Turkish soap opera, but if they're as lurid as Latin American telenovelas...
Turkish music is great. Nazan Öncel is one of the most popular singers, and she is excellent, and beautiful. Get a grip, dude, and enjoy. Turkey one Muslim country that's secular enough not to breed legions of suicide bombers.

If Turkish soap operas are anything like the American variety, then, yes, they probably ARE junk -- as is at least 97% of what gets shown on television in general (at least here).
But nobody should have the right to forbid the general population from watching them. That's the same as forcing arbitrary censorship, merely enacting it from the other direction (which is practically impossible to do).
I wonder how long the Middle East nations' populations will put up with this treatment from their authorities, being treated like naughty toddlers -- with those authorities acting out the role of vicious, insanely strict parents. I'm guessing about another 500 years, maximum.
