Evolution can't happen, it is impossible, it has been proven by science that it can't happen.

This is one of my favorite things that they say, because it is just so utterly ridiculous. Because Hovind or Hamm claims that "evolution has been proven wrong by science," fundies seem able to accept the idea that thousands upon thousands of scientists are living a lie every single day.

If you are religious and in a position of power, it's easy to convince your supporters of pretty much anything. After all, you're a religious person, so why would you lie? That is one of the fundamental dangers of religious authority.
