Think for ourselves? That's what we've been doing, and that is what's resulted in the atheism and agnosticism. We want valid evidence that the Bible is true, let alone "the only truth", before we will think ourselves into Christianity.
Questioning the validity of something (the Bible, the Quran, On the Origin of Species, Hansel and Gretl, you-name-it) is what constitutes thinking for yourself, stupid, and it will broaden your mind to know more things.
If something contradicts the Bible, then the Bible is wrong. Yes, you are absolutely correct there, rabidanimal.
