Quote# 40573

So PeterSung since you feel trees were quote "meant to clean the air and provide fresh oxygen to man and beautify the earth. They weren't originally meant to be chopped down." unquote, then Jesus should have not been a carpenter, that would have been a sin since he was defacing his creation by building something out of wood. Then that would also mean he was not sinless.

Since I see no 11th commandment that states "No one should use creation for energy" I think I will burn all the oil I can afford and cut down every tree I can for the use of my choice.

How silly.

Yeah, never mind that whole steward of creation or whatever bit in Genesis. Everyone knows Genesis is only for waving in front of atheists. Let's fuck creation over as hard as possible! That'll make Skydaddy happy!

The second doesn't logically follow from the first, even if we accept your ridiculous assertion that Jesus even existed.

1. Trees were much more plentiful in Jesus's time.
2. God commands in the bible for us to take care of the earth.
3.Are your children and grandchildren unworthy of having a nice, clean, enviroment to live in?

Right, so if you burn all the oil and cut down all the trees, where do expect to get more oil and more trees from? Obviously, even for mere survival, humankind needs to utilise natural resources. However, if are unable to do so in a sustainable and environmentally benign manner, there will come a day when there are no longer any resources to exploit.

I wish I could be surprised by this, but it IS RaptureReady. Let's face it, when they're convinced that Skydaddy will give them a whole new planet to fuck over within the year, they don't particularly care about this world.

So turning the earth into a wasteland is what your god meant when he said to have dominion over the earth?

1. In bible days they knew nothing of petroleum. All mentions of 'oil' in the bible refer to olive oil or some other plant/animal based oil.

2. In bible days they had no idea what a clear cut was. They needed wood, they either found a tree that was already down, or went out and found the one that suited their needs and cut it down.

God hates responsible use of resources and throughout history has only preserved societies that recklessly consumed resources as quickly and extravagantly as they could. Look how long China's civilization lasted, compared to the still-thriving Easter Island.

No, but there's something in there about being a steward of the earth, which you ought to know since it's YOUR sacred book, not mine.

They don't care about the earth because they're going to be raptured anyhow, and the rest of us heathen sinners are going to get stuck with the wreckage. That's why none of them should ever be allowed to hold public office or be in any position where they are responsible for environmental policy.

In jesus's time, didn't carpentry actually include stone masonry and related crafts that didn't necessarily require much wood?
