There is a big difference between having students learn what another religion is like and trying to force them into observance.

But then how would your kids know what to hate?

Wait 'til they hear about MY 9th grade history class where we staged a mock Hindu wedding.

I'm anti-hypocrite thanks.

Don't you just hate it when the kids are learning something in school?

Scared that all those years of Christian indoctrination will go to waste over a couple of weeks of learning about the Muslim religion? Wow, you have no faith in your God, your church, or your kids. Maybe you should investigate another Christian church besides your cult? Your current faith seems to be awfully weak.

Errr... When I wanted to learn about Islam (coincidentally, in early 2001), did I start reading? Did I look on the Web?
Neither. I started to attend halacas (Muslim sunday school); I even attended sermons by a Muslim preacher (his depiction of Hell would have scared Bosch into a few thousand paintings), and prayed in a Mosque, kneeling on a mat and all.
Yet, despite all that heavy-duty exposure, I chose after a few months to retain my Christian faith: comparing and contrasting Muslim and Christian beliefs proved most enlightening.

Wait a minute.
I don't particularly like the sound of that, either.

For once they get it right. Recited prayers don't really have a place in public schools. I can't imagine why a teacher thought that was a good idea.

Any prayer in school is bad. Thankfully, this bit isn't true.

Reminds me of my fundie father who wouldn't let us learn anything at all about other religions. He asked our school to take us out of RE lessons if the lesson wasn't about Christianity. I always wondered why I didn't have any friends and why people called me a weirdo.

so I guess you disagree with kids saying the Pledge of Allegiance too? Good I'm so glad we agree.
