Yep there were no ill effects from the Belgian liberation at all. It wasn't as if the ruler (who personally owned an area encompassing several African nations- and forcing them all together into one nation- a very common act that has directly lead to the constant civil war and genocide in many African nations to the present day) milked the country of natural resources, creating a personal army to do this- the members of whom were told that if they killed many Africans, they would be allowed home faster. It wasn't as if he ordered that an ear be taken for each bullet expended- and that the currency of that nation turned into ears. It's not as if, while the Ruler (Leopold the first of Belgium) became unimaginable rich, dozens of easily curable diseases, constant war against the people and starvation caused by the country being forced off the land and into the (dangerous) forrests to pick (non-renewable) rubber plants for that king's personal wealth. It's not as if Leopold actually invested nothing into the growth of the country- forcing it to harvest resources in such a way that they would not be renewable, to log massive amounts of trees and destroy farms and villages. It's not as if, after international outrage and scandal, the king was relieved of his kingdom. It's not as if this reign of terror (which he did not even try to justify as 'helping the population', like similar stunts in India, Australia and elsewhere) caused a massive population decrease, which continues to create problems to the present day.
It was all for the good of the Congolese. All of the brutal massacres and thievery.

If there is a race that has proven itself superiour through history (and there certainly is not) it isn't the white one. There was never an Italian free state. There was never a black Leopold.

Ethiopia actually does have fertile soil and a substantial agriculture sector. That's actually true. The reasons for Ethiopian famines are relatively complex. A good chunk of it can actually be laid at the feet of the Italians and their insistence on using poison gas and machine guns on civilians, devastating the rural infrastructure; the oil crisis of 1973 caused a profound drop in Ethiopian agricultural output; in 1979 the Derg government shot a bunch of people and caused an economic downturn (and another famine); and in the 80s they had a severe drought caused by global warming.

But seriously, Ethiopia has agricultural exports as 80 percent of their total exports. They just had four really shitty things happen to their country in the 20th century.
