Let the logic cease!
There's a reason that this suggestion is a stupid and unworkable one, and that reason is cheese clock hydrogen spiral moon paper twisted elephant largely sideways.

Guess she's only parroting exactly what the bahbul says.... like they all do.
2/23/2008 6:06:48 PM
You know, religions like Buddhism actually ENCOURAGE doubt and questioning.
Just thought you ought to know that.
2/23/2008 6:24:54 PM
She calls paulines Christian. Look at her sources.
2/23/2008 6:57:41 PM
logic is a good thing, especially when it comes to weeding out nonsense cherry-picked chapter and (one) verse.
Honestly, if the Bible was saying something straight out wouldn't it be Chapter,Verses 1 to 110 or something? Why do Christian need to hop all around unless they are compiling pieces that they think make a whole and state their paticular case?
Try reading a Stephen King (OR anyone) novel like that and see how much sense it makes
2/24/2008 7:47:35 PM
Go kill yourself.
Don't question just do it!
2/24/2008 9:51:35 PM
Actually, it sort of makes sense. It only becomes a problem when they try to make it correspond to the real world, history, science, etc.
2/24/2008 10:55:12 PM
Why would you even need the book?
Or maybe that's why they don't know much about it, just holding it is all that matters?
2/26/2008 9:02:40 PM
Have fun with that. And please, feel free to drink the Kool-Aid.
2/26/2008 10:32:05 PM
I lol'd like so hard at "Let the logic cease!

Normal Christians live by sight, and sound and smell and taste and touch. Normal Christians use logic all the time. Only raving fundamentalists rather trust a musty old book, than what they can see, hear, smell, taste and touch.

"A Christian does not question God, requiring logical proof."
"We live by faith not by sight.... Let the logic cease!"
Because if we lived by sight, not by faith, then the whole membrane-thin facade called religious belief would fall apart.
After all, without LOGIC (and the principles based on such), you wouldn't even have the very thing you're using now to spew your 'faith' bullshit on.
This is the Age of Reason. Now let the faith cease.
Edit. It's-a me, Anon-e-moose. Forgot to put my name on this comment. Mea culpa.

This is why nobody wants to join you.
7/10/2009 10:42:23 AM
Read what you just wrote. Is this really how you want to live your life? Your religion, due to the need to self-preserve itself, has taught you that it is ok and, in fact, good to be ignorant!
Don't ask questions, just tithe.

"Let the logic cease!"
So quit using digital.

"A Christian does not question God, requiring logical proof. Romans 1:17 - 2 Corinthians 5:7 - Galatians 2:20 and 3:11 - Hebrews 10:38 We live by faith not by sight...."
Because to do so is thoughtcrime. [/"1984"]

More than enough proof to utterly annihilate your so-called 'Bible'. This is your current location:
Not many gaps left eh, fundies?
All you lot have left is the insane, unjustifiable delusion you call 'faith'. Meanwhile, the juggernaut that is Reality, based on Science, Reason, Evidence, Proof and Logic rolls inexorably on; ever onwards towards the tomorrow that is Progress and future that is Humanity. Deal with it.

Well, I can see where she is coming from:
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could evolve purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing". "But," says man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It proves you exist and so therefore you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh, that was easy," says man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.
-- Do I really need to credit this? Shame on you if you don't know what I'm quoting. If there is anyone out there who has not read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you need to go and read it now. What are you doing here? What are you waiting for? Go!

Heh, which version? I've read and/or watched just about every HGTTG version and love them all, including the Radio Scripts, the 1981 BBC TV show, all the books, the '05 movie (I liked it better the second time I watched it).. And don't forget that Towel Day is coming up soon...

What uses are those references to Bible verses to me without sight?
5/3/2011 12:14:23 PM
Christianity is a stupid, worthless cult. 'Nuff said.

Let the logic cease?
Jesus said that the mustard seed is the smallest of all the seeds on earth.
The orchid seed is smaller, so is the redwood seed and some dandelion seeds.
Place one of each side by side.
The mustard seed would appear to be the largest.
The logic there is obvious.
Are we still required to belive the mustard seed is smaller?
The answer yes if we are stupid.
I ask you this:
Do we want to be logical or stupid?
5/3/2011 2:17:03 PM
Faith doesn't mean "Abandon all God-given mental faculties ye who enter here" If God wants us to "let the logic cease!" the why then does God's word speak to us in metaphor if we weren't meant to use logic and reason? Are you saying that the olive tree is a literal olive tree? That gentiles will be physically grafted in to it? Sounds painful!!
You are correct that it is by faith we are saved. Faith is evidence, not an excuse for a faulty hypothesis. Moses forwent the riches of Egypt because he looked to the reward, e.g. had respect unto the recompense of. It was this manifestation of faith by which he will be saved. Not blindly following his emotional whims as to what God did or didn't want him to do.
God blessed us with mental faculties beyond the rest of the animal kingdom and gave us the ability to use logic and reason and it is from this that we are equipped to tell what is true from what is false. What seperates the Bible from other religious books and what makes it invulnerable to false doctrine is that we CAN use logic and reason to see the truth and the light of God's Word.
When a preacher, christian, politician, whomever tells you something that doesn't make sense, look to the Bible for answers and pray that God will show you the path towards reason and logic, truth and light.
This notion of "divine mystery" and logic-less faith is what keeps false doctrines going through the years, oh we can't understand that, but just believe this guy over here that this is correct and this is what God wants.

One quick follow up.. Take her first verse from Romans... " For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith.""
Then read the VERY NEXT VERSE. "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them" <-- Made plain to them BY LOGIC!!! DUHHH....
