The Bible is the Word of a bunch of bronze age Arab goat herders who claimed it's the Word of God. Believing that goat-herders speak for God makes it a religion.

Thousands of people have claimed they were speaking for God. Claiming it's "God's orders" is an age-old technique for getting people to do what you want.
